Westheimer Storm Drainage and Street Reconstruction:
Work on Westheimer Road has reached a new milestone as pedestrian lights are in process of installation this week (pictured). New sidewalks and streetscape improvements have been installed recently at various locations and wi
ll continue over the next few weeks. We
will also begin to see installation of new street trees an
d new bus shelters.
New sidewalks are nearly complete at the Kirby Drive intersection adjacent to West Ave and look great. This work should continue through next week.
Work through the remainder of the month of January includes installation of bus shelters, sidewalk pavers, pedestrian lighting and new landscaping.
Bissonnet Storm Drainage
and Street Reconstruction:
Crews along Bissonnet are very busy this week. Activity continues with roadway pavement replacement and storm sewer installation.
New roadway pavement is open on the eastbound lane between Belmont Street and Wakeforest Avenue. (pictured). The additional eastbound lane requires more work, but should be open soon.
On the west end of the project, near Buffalo Speedway, crews are working in the median and will be installing storm lines adjacent to Belmont Street. Traffic has been reduced to a single lane, so expect traffic to slow down in this area.
Eastside Street Utility and Streetscape Improvements:
Eastside Street roadway improvements north of Alabama Street are moving quickly. The contractor has completed the storm sewer on the east half of the
road and has begun preparing the
for new roadway paving.
New concrete for roadway paving will begin on January 10th. Crews are currently preparing for the n
ew sanitary line installation which also begins this week.
Traffic lane closures for this week on Eastside Street include:
1. Eastside Street between Westheimer
Alabama will be closed to traffic until February 24, 2018.
