Upper Kirby Construction
Bissonnet Work Underway
Westheimer Storm Drainage and Street Reconstruction:

Crews are working quickly to get pavement down between Kirby and Eastside over the next week. It is anticipated at this point that all lanes will be open between River Oaks Boulevard and Kirby the week after next.

Reconstruction of the left-turn lane eastbound at Kirby is set to begin shortly. Traffic will be placed on the new concrete around the center median and left-turn lane during this phase of work. Left turn movements will be preserved here during construction.

Storm work on Earl was completed Wednesday and concrete restoration will likely begin next week. The contractor will also look to get asphalt work started next week on Sackett south of Westheimer next week as well. Crews should be clear of this area by the week after next also.

Bissonnet Storm Drainage  and Street Reconstruction:

Work on Bissonnet between Kirby and Buffalo Speedway began this week with demolition efforts through about 400 feet of roadway just east of Buffalo Speedway. Work here will focus on the outside lanes of the roadway during this first phase of construction, allowing one lane eastbound and one lane westbound separated by the existing esplanade. Work this week was primarily on the south side of the roadway with some demolition taking place on the north side of the street.

The contractor will also be pursuing approval from the City of Houston to work concurrently on the south side of the roadway between Kirby and Wakeforest. Due to the preservation of existing medians on this project, traffic transitions must take place at existing median openings. In many cases, a longer construction zone is less disruptive than an awkward transition from one side of the road to the other through these openings. Look for further updates as work sequencing is finalized.
