Meet the Board of Supervisors
Two new supervisors joined the Board in 2018. Kris Ballerini and Ed Ford began six-year terms joining Chair Tom Cino, Vice Chair Diana Nolan and Treasurer Mike Tierney as elected supervisors. Kris, a Bucks County resident for almost 20 years, moved to Upper Makefield in 2015 and has an interest in preserving historic value and quality of life. Ed has lived in Upper Makefield for 33 years and previously served on the Board of Supervisors. He's proud to have played a role in the development of Upper Makefield’s Open Space Program. Read more about the Supervisors, view meeting minutes and watch meeting videos on our website.
Officers Kowalski and Areias Sworn In
Judge Petrucci and Chief Schmidt joined officers Josh Kowalski and Kyle Areias as the new police officers were recently sworn in to serve Upper Makefield Township. Officer Kowalski, a graduate of West Chester University and the Montgomery County Community College Police Academy, joined the force as a full-time officer after serving in West Conshohocken. Officer Areias, a Shippensburg University and Temple University Police Academy graduate, serves as a part-time officer and has worked in Morrisville. Join us in welcoming Officers Kowalski and Areias to Upper Makefield. Learn more about the Department on the Township website, and be sure to follow them on Facebook.
Public Works Superintendent Bruce Scott
Upper Makefield has a new Public Works Superintendent. Bruce Scott has been a Township employee for 17 years, starting as a laborer before advancing to the position of foreman. He served as Interim Superintendent for five months following the retirement of long-time Superintendent Bob Johnson and was hired as superintendent in March. Bruce’s knowledge of masonry, plumbing and electric help to keep things running efficiently, and his experience with day-to day operations, maintenance and plowing made for a smooth transition. Congratulations, Bruce!
Tax Time: E-file with Keystone Collections
Tax Day is fast approaching and Keystone Collections Group made e-filing Earned Income Tax returns easier and faster. You can file online in minutes from any mobile device, file multiple returns from one e-file account and view the return status on the Home Page.  You can also file online if you work outside of Pennsylvania. The Earned Income Tax is a 1% tax divided equally between Upper Makefield and Council Rock School District and supports the majority of General Services provided by the Township. Here's an explanation of Municipal, School, and County Taxes.
Winning Park Designs from 3rd Graders
Township representatives were honored to once again be asked to judge park design projects from Mrs. Nancy Stoudt's 3rd Grade Humanities class at Sol Feinstone Elementary School. With creative ideas like ninja warrior parks, pirate ships and zip lines, it was hard to select only three projects to present at the Board of Supervisors meeting. Winning entrants are shown at right with Supervisor Chair Tom Cino: 1st Place Thomas Bates, 2nd Place Liam Ott, 3rd Place Ava Gaberina.
