Urgent Legislative Alert:
Urge State Rep. Mike Turzai
to Pass Senate Bill 3!
By Maria Gallagher, Legislative Director gallagher@paprolife.org

We urgently need you to call Pennsylvania House Majority Leader Mike Turzai's office and urge him to put Senate Bill 3 up for a vote. This common sense measure, which has already passed the Pa. Senate, would allow Pennsylvania to opt out of abortion funding under President Obama's so-called health care reform law. (The Pa. House did pass HB 1977, which would have accomplished the same goal, but the House and Senate must come to agreement on a single bill to send to the Governor.)
The pro-life leaders of the House--both Republicans and Democrats--have already sent a letter to Rep. Turzai asking him to place Senate Bill 3 on the calendar for a vote.
Governor Tom Corbett has also pledged to sign SB 3 into law if it comes to his desk.
ACTION ITEM:
Call State Representative Mike Turzai's office at 717-772-9943 with this message: "I urge Representative Turzai to put Senate Bill 3 up for a vote. I don't want my tax money to be spent on abortion under the federal health care law."
Thank you so much for making these critical calls! We know that the number of abortions skyrocket when there is taxpayer funding of abortion, so we need to pass Senate Bill 3 to save countless lives!

LIFE Band Dropped in Parking Lot Saves Baby from Abortion
Sometimes, we may doubt how much good a sticker or bracelet with a pro-life message will do. Then, we hear stories about unlikely circumstances that lead to that one little message making a world of difference.
Such was the case for a young waitress who accidentally dropped a LIFE wristband in a store parking lot. Months later, the fate of her wristband was revealed to her by a young mother and her child who came in for a meal. Read this remarkable story about how a lost pro-life wristband saved a life. |
Abortion IS Dangerous to Women

We know that abortions are dangerous medical procedures, but do we know WHY abortions hurt women? The Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation recently published a new fact sheet detailing the many risks of the abortion drug RU-486. To see it, click here.
This chemical abortion method poses many serious risks to women's health -- even resulting in several women's deaths. RU-486 doesn't always even succeed in its deadly purpose. Many women who take it must undergo a second surgical abortion because the drug didn't work correctly.
Despite its serious health risks, RU-486 continues to be pushed for and expanded by the abortion industry in Pennsylvania and beyond. Learn more about this deadly drug by reading our blog, and spread the word about its dangers to women.

Abortion Giant Targets Teens with New Texting Program
Planned Parenthood, the nation's largest abortion provider, has found another way to target young people with information about abortions. The new program encourages youth to text questions about abortion and sex to its staff, who will send a quick reply.
The video advertising the new program does not shy away from abortion. In it, a teenage girl texts, "The condom broke and I don't want to be pregnant." Planned Parenthood responds by promoting the morning after pill, which would act as an abortion agent in the situation. Learn more about this disturbing new program here.
Teens and young adults seeking real answers about abortion and sex should visit teenbreaks.com and lovefacts.org. If you know anyone facing an unplanned pregnancy, direct them to Real Alternatives for free caring, confidential pregnancy and parenting support services. Call the Real Alternatives hotline at 1-888-LIFEAID or visit their website.

Join Our Chapters for Community Life Chains

One October day 25 years ago, a small pro-life community gathered on the streets of their California town to pray for an end to abortion. Their public pro-life effort quickly spread to other communities, and the national Life Chain prayer event was formed.
This year, more than 1,500 Life Chains will occur in towns and cities across the U.S. and Canada. People gather to pray and hold pro-life signs as a peaceful public witness to their community about the devastation of legalized abortion.
Several of our chapters plan to host Life Chains in their communities. Please join us to pray for the lives of the unborn!
The Mifflin-Juniata Life Chain will be held Sunday, October 7, at 1 p.m. at the Historic Mifflin County Courthouse, Market Street, Lewistown. Included this year will be prayers and efforts to have our God-given rights of the First Amendment protected. Michael Ciccocioppo, executive director of the Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation, will speak.
The Citizens Concerned for Life of DuBois will host its 21st annual Life Chain beginning at 2:30 p.m. October 7. A new post-chain program will be held in the amphitheater in the City Park, which is just across from the DuBois Area Middle School, 404 Liberty Boulevard, DuBois. Featured speakers will include Gina McElwee who counsels women experiencing post-abortion syndrome, and Micaiah Bilger, education coordinator for the Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation.
The Citizens Concerned for Human Life of Cambria-Somerset will host a Life Chain from 1-3 p.m. October 7 along Main Street and State Route 219 in Carrolltown, and from 1-2 p.m. on Broad Street, Johnstown.
The Pennsylvanians for Life of Beaver County will host a Life Chain beginning at 2:15 p.m. October 7 along Third Street in downtown Beaver. Participants should go to the gazebo across from the Courthouse for the opening prayer and signs to display.
