The residents in Pompton Lakes that have been devastated by Hurricane Irene need your help!
Please call your Congressman Pascrell at Paterson Office (973) 523-5152, Senator Lautenberg (973) 639-8700 and Senator Menendez at (973) 645-3030 and urge them to have the United States Environmental Protection Agency do a full environmental investigation of the flood areas in Pompton Lakes, NJ to make sure all are safe from exposure to any/all types of contaminants including sewage contaminants and oil spill issue that has fed into Pompton Lake.
Very special thanks to Citizens For Clean Pompton Lakes members who went above and beyond yesterday! Ms. Helen Martens and Ruth Paez and others. Ms. Martens contacted the EPA, our Congressman and Senators to make them aware of the oil spill that was present in Pompton Lake. They were unaware of this issue until a phone calls were made by Ms. Martens! Ms. Martens also informed them of the down vapor mitigation removal systems that occurred from a power outage in a DuPont plume neighborhood. This area was without power from Sunday, August 28, 2011 and power did return until the evening of Tuesday August 30, 2011.
