Rule Advances Association Health Plans

What the Association Health Plan Rule Means for REALTORS ^®

The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) has finalized its long-awaited Association Health Plan (AHP) rule to expand the definition of “employer” to include “working owners.” This change allows real estate professionals and other self-employed individuals to participate in association health plans. A key provision, advocated for inclusion in the rule by NAR, will allow the roughly 31 percent of REALTORS® who are offered coverage through a spouse to be eligible to choose an AHP option.

Urge Congress to extend the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) and pass meaningful reforms to ensure long-term viability of the program.

Rapattoni trainers will be at the VBR offices on June 26 through June 28 for free training sessions. The trainings will be classroom style and you will not need your computer to follow along. Handouts will be provided for note taking. Also, these are training sessions. We ask that you do not suggest Vail MLS changes to the Rapattoni representatives.

Ethics  must  be completed by the end of the year as a requirement of the National Association of REALTORS ^® . The cycle started March 1, 2017 and runs through December 31, 2018. Active members are required to complete this training by the end of the cycle. 

VBR has two scheduled on-site classes for 2018.

In this edition, Colorado Association of REALTORS ^® ' General Counsel Scott Peterson discusses How Not to Get Paid and Rule E-48 - Prohibited Remedies for Compensation.

VBR is the presenting sponsor of the Playhouse Project, a fun and unique fundraiser that kicked off on June 14 in Avon's Nottingham Park. Eight local construction companies built custom playhouses that will be auctioned off on July 21 to benefit  St. Jude Children's Research Hospital , the VBR Foundation and  Habitat Vail Valley .

Kids and parents can check out the playhouses during a five-week exhibit. Vote on your favorite! If you share a photo of the playhouses on social media, please tag it with #playhouseprojectco.

Those affected by the 416 Fire near Durango are in need of monetary donations, food and household items, and animal-related donations. The Durango Area Association of REALTORS ^® (DAAR) is working in partnership with area relief organizations, and recently collected nearly 325 lbs of food for the Durango Food Bank as well as monetary donations to assist evacuees.

As of June 19, the is 35 percent contained and has charred 34,161 acres. Your support is appreciated during this time.
