CCTR Presents at VCU School of Nursing Research Council

Representatives from multiple cores within the  VCU Wright CCTR  led a presentation on the various tools and services offered by the Center at a recent VCU School of Nursing Research Council.

"You are not alone," said Shirley L.T. Helm, MS, CCRP, manager of clinical research administration for the VCU Wright CCTR's Clinical Research Services. "We are here to help you with a team of experts in the areas of research, biostatistics, informatics, study conduct, regulatory name it."

The CCTR Celebrates Halloween

Thanks to all who participated in the VCU Wright CCTR's Halloween party on Monday. 

Resident pirate and senior financial analyst, Art Carpenter, took home the prize for winning our costume contest.

The VCU Wright Center for Clinical and Translational Research reminds investigators to please cite the CTSA grant, per requirement of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), if you receive funding through the VCU Wright CCTR or use any CTSA facility, services, or tools to support your research. 

This includes the VCU Wright CCTR's Research Incubator, grant writing assistance, Clinical Research Informatics (consultations, REDCap, i2b2), Clinical Research Services (clinical trials, volunteer recruitment), etc.

Final "How-to Talks by Postdocs" - Nov. 7

The VCU Wright CCTR is co-sponsoring the "How-to Talks by Postdocs" speaker series along with Tompkins-McCaw Library for the Health Sciences and VCU Postdoctoral Association.
Rebecca Martin, Ph.D., will present, " The Active Learning Teaching Revolution: Teaching STEM so that Your Students Actually Learn."

These sessions are free and open to all in the VCU and Virginia Biotechnology Research Park communities. This session will take place in the second floor lecture room of the Tompkins-McCaw Library for the Health Sciences (509 N. 12th St.) on Monday, November 7 from noon to 1:00 p.m.

The VCU Wright CCTR and  VCU Tompkins-McCaw Library are hosting a lunch research seminar on Wednesday, Nov. 9. at  Tompkins-McCaw Library, Room 109 from noon to 1:00 p.m. 

Dr. Alison Montpetit from  VCU School of Nursing and Dr. Dayanjan Wijesinghe from  VCU School of Pharmacy will discuss effective and efficient ways to identify and engage with research collaborators.

In lieu of a traditional staff meeting, Jessica Carey will hold a drop-in cascading goals clinic in the RAM Conference Room.

"Discovery Dialogues:   How can the study of behavior improve health insurance decisions? " - Nov. 14

Please join the VCU Wright CCTR for our  Discovery  Dialogues seminar titled,
"Discovery Dialogues:  How can the study of behavior improve health insurance decisions? Discoveries from a series of choice experiments ." 

Andrew J. Barnes, Ph.D., assistant professor for the VCU Department of Health Behavior and Policy, will present the seminar on Monday, November 14 from  noon to 1:00 p.m.  in the Main Hospital's Learning Center (first floor, across from the cafeteria).

Faculty, staff, students, patients, and families are invited to attend.  Light refreshments will be served.

The VCU Wright CCTR invites you to attend the next chapter SoCRA meeting on Tuesday, November 15 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Critical Care Hospital, 1st floor, Room 304.

"CCTR Brown Bag Lunch Seminar: StudyFinder" (session four) - Nov. 17

Bring your lunch to the Kontos Medical Sciences Building, Rooms 104-105 on Thursday, November 17  and learn about StudyFinder. Officially launched on July 1, 2016, StudyFinder serves as a central point for all enrolling clinical trials at VCU. 

Tim Aro, m anager of information systems for the VCU Wright CCTR's Enterprise Informatics, and Jun He, research informatics application analyst for  the VCU Wright CCTR's Enterprise Informatics, will lead the presentation.
