Please remember and remind folks you work with of the importance of citing our CTSA grant whenever there is funding or support given through our Center. 

Per requirement from the National Institutes of Health, this includes the use of services such as the  Clinical Research Services unit, Research Incubator, informatics support, etc.

Featured Researcher: Dr. Richard Sterling

VCU School of Medicine's Richard K. Sterling, M.D., M.Sc., is the latest researcher in the VCU Wright CCTR's ongoing featured researcher series.

He is currently leading two five-year grants (NCT01369212 and NCT01306071) where he utilizes resources at the VCU Wright CCTR and sees study participants at our Clinical Research Services unit.

Establishing yourself in a supportive environment is just one piece of Dr. Sterling's recommended 'recipe for success'.

The VCU Wright Center for Clinical and Translational Research reminds investigators to please cite the CTSA grant, per requirement of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), if you receive funding through the VCU Wright CCTR or use any CTSA facility, services or tools to support your research. 

This includes the VCU Wright CCTR's Research Incubator, grant writing assistance, Clinical Research Informatics (consultations, REDCap, i2b2), Clinical Research Services (clinical trials, volunteer recruitment), etc.

CCTR/IDAS Halloween Party 

The VCU Wright CCTR will host an office Halloween party on Monday, October 31 at noon in the RAM Research Incubator (2nd Floor). 

There will be an array of food and a  Halloween costume  contest to win a prize.   

Price of admittance: Please bring one  Halloween-themed snack to share!

Please RSVP to Jessica Carey (jgcarey@vcu.edu) by Friday, October 28 and share what dish you will be bringing. 
New VCU HR Protocol: EWP Cascading Goals

Please remember to meet with Jessica Carey, office manager for the VCU Wright CCTR, as soon as possible if you need assistance completing or understanding VCU's new EWP cascading goal requirement.

"CCTR Brown Bag Lunch Seminar: Modern Biostatistical Considerations for Designing Responsible Trials" (session three) - Oct. 20 

Bring your lunch to Sanger Hall, Room 3016 on Thursday, October 20  and learn about best practices and modern biostatistical considerations for designing responsible trials.   

Adam Sima, Ph.D., biostatistician for the VCU Wright CCTR's Research Innovator and assistant professor for the VCU Department of Biostatistics; and Roy Sabo, associate professor for the VCU Department of Biostatistics, will lead the presentation. 

"How-to Talks by Postdocs" - Oct. 24 and 31

The VCU Wright CCTR is co-sponsoring the "How-to Talks by Postdocs" speaker series along with Tompkins-McCaw Library for the Health Sciences and VCU Postdoctoral Association.
 
VCU postdoctoral researchers will share hands-on knowledge and insights in this 2016 brown bag speaker series. 

The sessions are free and open to all in the VCU and Virginia Biotechnology Research Park communities. They will take place in the second floor lecture room of the Tompkins-McCaw Library for the Health Sciences (509 N. 12th St.) on Mondays from noon to 1:00 p.m.
