Recipient Spotlight: Tyia Burley
Tyia Burley is the mother of three boys and two girls, ages 3, 5, 11, 14, and 16. She previously had a job working in home-care, but without reliable transportation, she was unable to keep that job. To get to work, she had to take a bus on weekdays and cabs on the weekends when the bus did not run. Tyia and her children could only go to local places because of the expensive cab prices. In order to get to doctor’s appointments, Tyia and her children had to take the bus and then the train. With her car, Tyia’s kids are now able to participate in extracurricular activities and she can finally attend parent-teacher meetings. Read other recipient’s stories  here .

Mazda  Program Highlights

In 2016 Vehicles for Change (VFC) and Mazda USA entered into a partnership to create the Drive to 100 program. This program stopped at various cities in the North East Region including New York, Boston, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania providing donated cars to working families in need.

Valley Stream Mazda and Koeppel Mazda made it a very happy holiday for two families in December. They brought the total cars awarded to families up to 37. The program also allowed Mazda customers along the East Coast to donate their cars to VFC for a $500 rebate off the purchase of a new car. To date over 200 cars have been donated to VFC thanks to our Drive to 100 partnership with Mazda USA! Find out more about the program here
