COLCOA Awards Including several films presented at FFC! The City of Lights, City of Angels (COLCOA) French film festival ended last week. Among the award winners were movies that you have seen at this year's Focus on French Cinema, while others had ties with previous editions of your festival... - Critics' Prize: The Last Hammer Blow (Le Dernier coup de marteau), by Alix Delaporte, who directed FFC 2012 Opening Night Angele et Tony, with leading characters also played by Gregory Gadebois and Clotilde Hesme. - Special Critics' Prize: Once in a Lifetime (Les Héritiers), by Marie-Castille Mention-Schaar, who presented this great movie as a NY Premiere at this year's Focus on French Cinema, both for the high school screening and during the weekend. - Critics' Special Mention: Number One Fan (Elle l'adore), by Jeanne Herry, who appeared to answer audience questions as our US Premiere during the FFC 2015 Closing Night at French Institute Alliance Française (FIAF). - Audience Award: Blind Date (Un peu, beaucoup, passionément), by Clovis Cornillac, whom you may have discovered during the FFC 2008 screening of Gilles' Wife (La Femme de Gilles). - Audience Special Prize: Once in a Lifetime (Les Héritiers), another special prize for this incredible movie and Director, Marie-Castille Mention-Schaar, who was our guest at FFC 2015. - Audience Special Mention: Memories (Les Souvenirs), by Jean-Paul Rouve. Producers Romain Rousseau & Maxime Delauney were on hand on our Opening Night to speak about the film, for its US Premiere. - Coming Soon Award: Samba, by Olivier Nakache & Éric Toledano, who also directed FFC 2008 Nos Jours Heureux, before the international phenomenon The Intouchables. - First Feature Award: SK1 by Frédéric Tellier - Documentary Award: Steak (R)évolution by Franck Ribière |
