This weekend is the first  Make Your Own Creation (MOC) Contest!

WHEN: August 5th - Voting for favorites in museum's changing exhibit gallery!
WHO:  ages 6 and under
WHAT: Bring your "Creation" Friday, Aug 4 to the VLM to be eligible for great prizes.

Join us for Giant LEGO®  brick sculptures, designed by Brooklyn artist and children's author Sean Kenney, t hat brings nature to life with a six-foot hummingbird hovering over a trumpet flower, a deer family made from 48,000 bricks, a giant tortoise, a seven-foot long dragonfly, and much more.  This spectacular combination of nature and art is an award-winning, record-breaking exhibition created  with over a half million LEGO®  bricks.
 
The exhibit will be located in the Conservation Garden where visitors can view the 16 amazing sculptures, as well  as a  Big Block Build Zone .  A   LEGO®  Brick  Creation Station  will put guests' creativity to the test.

Whose Track Is That? 
August 3 - 6-7pm
 
Speaker:  Lisa Wright, VLM Education Associate & Collections Manager

Make Tracks to the VLM to learn about some of the"footprints" and signs that animals leave behind! That track in the sand - was it a fox, or maybe a coyote?  Down by the pond - did a beaver pass by here, or was it an otter?  I see webbed feet - a duck, or a goose?  And here's some poo - who did the doo?  (Also called "scat"!)  You'll have fun learning to identify some animal tracking secrets, and you can also paint your own model animal track to take home! Registration is required - sign up for this learning adventure today

Summer Thursdays - Stay Late 'til 8 

Our doors are open until 8pm (outdoor trail open until 7:30pm) every Thursday through August 31.
Stay late until 8pm with added activities including:

Final weeks for the Children's Theater production held in the  outdoor amphitheater. The delightful performance answers the question "Is My Sandwich a Dinosaur?"  Children learn  all about dinosaurs and what fossils (and chicken sandwiches) can teach us about them. Six shows daily with lots of audience participation!  Weather permitting: 11:00am,
11:30am, 12:00pm, 1:00 pm, 1:30pm, and 2:00pm in  the  outdoor Wason Amphitheater.
