Mar 7 - Wolves: A Vital Role in Nature

Join us as VLM Animal Keeper Carrie Bridgman offers an informative overview of wolf species throughout the world, with a special focus on the current status of the Red Wolf recovery program, under  which the VLM's own Red Wolves are included. No fee, but  register in advance .
 
Mar 21 - Mosquitoes, the Zika Virus, & Virginia: An Update
6:30-8 pm
Mosquito Biologist Betsy Hodson will help us better understand mosquitoes' roles as carriers and transmitters of the Zika virus, as well as the current state of research and "on the ground" activities connected to controlling this recent threat to human health. No fee, but  register in advance.

Reptile Weekend March 25-26
Experience a close encounter of the reptile kind! See a wide variety of native and exotic reptiles on display and in live animal programs. Guest exhibitors include Reptile Education of Virginia (REV), Sandy Bottom Nature Park, Virginia Herpetological Society, Virginia Stranding Team and Wildlife Response, Inc. Learn about the museum's citizen science projects such as FrogWatch and Turtle Census. See the differences between venomous and nonvenomous reptiles. Also enjoy crafts and reptile-related planetarium programs. Be sure to purchase a Reptile Skin Bookmark or "Snake Paintings" by our resident snakes. Both will be on sale to benefit our animals. All weekend activities included in museum admission.
Wolf to Woof: The Story of Dogs 
Open Daily through May 14

This exhibit sniffs out the facts about dogs and explores what makes the human/dog relationship so unique. Through multimedia displays, dioramas and interactive stations, visitors can learn about the different types of dogs, how they are related to wolves and how they help humans.
