PTA Calendar Misprint
On the VL PTA calendar you received last fall, there is a misprint. Open House for the school on May 3rd should be listed as 6:30-7:30pm (NOT 6:30-8:30).
Seifert's Spot
A note from Mrs. Seifert, Principal…

April is buzzing with excitement at Virginia Lake....much due to the generous support of our PTA! You may not be aware, but this year the PTA set aside a portion of money to help fund field trips. We live in such an amazing community, yet the cost of visiting these fine establishments can be significant. The PTA recognized this, and they stepped in to help! While we cannot afford to completely eliminate any costs associated with trips, the money can help reduce the per pupil cost making trips more affordable.

We are happy to report that ALL grade levels have/will benefit from this generosity. In kindergarten, we will be bringing the trip to the students! Cosley Zoo will visit VL in early May. Recently, our first and second grade students traveled to Metropolis Theater in Arlington Heights to see the play Beauty and the Beast. Our fourth graders will also be enjoying this opportunity. Our third grade students will be heading to Lego Land to deepen their understanding of simple machines - a recent science unit of study. Our fifth and sixth graders have had several learning experiences this year. Our fifth graders have visited Harper College and will soon visit the Palatine Fire Department. Sixth grade will be heading to Northwestern very soon to get a taste of university life! All 1-6 grade students will be visiting Brookfield Zoo in early May to wrap up our book study of The One and Only Ivan.

Many say, "It takes a village to raise a child." In this case, I would definitely agree! Thank you, PTA, for all your support.

Kristy Seifert

VL PTA Celebrations!
6th Grade Celebration
It’s time to celebrate the class of 2017! The 6th grade celebration will take place on Monday, May 22nd. It’s an all day event starting with bowling, then pizza, awesome games, ice cream, class video, autograph books and a raffle! If you have a 6th grader and want to help, please contact Lesley Fletcher at 630-432-1971 or lkf1617@gmail.com.

Sock Hop Fun!
We had over 140 students attend the 50's Sock Hop Spring Dance on Friday, March 10th. There were many poodle skirts, high ponytails, blue jeans and white t-shirts as students embraced the theme! They had fun dancing to the hits from the 50's as well as current pop favorites. The Hula Hoop contest was a big hit! Everyone one had fun taking pictures at the photo station! Here are a few pictures from the dance. Many more pictures were downloaded to treering.com, so please check them out for your personal pages if you are ordering a yearbook.

Special thanks to all of our PTA volunteers: Cherise Klipowicz, Michelle Chidichimo, Lydia Steinbach, Dee Kiss, Dionne Cantrell, Allison Jellison, Kris Wright, Michelle Simons, Yvette Gatorano

For being the winner of this year's contest, Magdalena will also receive a free copy of the yearbook. Congratulations PJ and Magdalena!

Overcoming Your Child’s ADHD, Allergies, Anxiety or Seizures with a Simple Shift

Join us on Monday, April 17th at Sundling JH at 7pm for a program that is open to anyone in the local community.

Do you sometimes feel overwhelmed with your anxious child, and wish you could laugh together more and worry less? Amanda Hinman, of Hinman Holistic Health Institute, will help parents to discover that they are not alone in this struggle and learn action focused exercises to help empower their child and destress their life.
