Greetings! ,

Happy Valentine's Day, or as I like to call it "heart day!"

Beyond roses, boxes of chocolates and valentines, today is a day that invites us to spend a little time with our hearts.

If you did not get a chance to listen to my radio  interview with heartful colleague, Doris Jeanette, speaking about the importance of living from the heart in an emotionally unsafe world, you might enjoy doing so today for "heart day."

You can listen to the radio program at www.ladybuglive.com/edge.htm.  A pdf on Emotional Safety is available on www.drjeanette.com/safe.html.

I wanted to share a few wonderful books that member of our HealingHeartPower community have passed on to me.

The first is a book that looks at the way our understanding of the heart has changed over time.  Celinda Shannon was good enough to let me know about this book entitled, The Sublime Engine: A Biography of the Human Heart by Stephen Amidon and Thomas Amidon, MD.

The second is a book that looks at how the energy of "trapped emotion" impacts our emotional, physical and spiritual health.  My colleague Cheryl Rounds introduced me to The Emotion Code by Bradley Nelson.

My Australian friend, Moni Roleff, introduced me to a series of wonderful books by David Richo, who writes about emotions, love, trust and relationships.  I have included a few excerpts from him book, When Love Meets Fear.

You can also "like us" on our HealingHeartPower  Facebook page. By "liking us", you will be notified whenever a new blog post is published.

What is EKP?
EKP is Emotional-Kinesthetic Psychotherapy, a heart-centered, body-centered psychotherapy method Linda Marks developed and has taught and practiced for nearly twenty years. Working with the heart, touch with permission, the wisdom of the body and the intuitive guidance of the spirit, EKP creates a special sense of intimacy that deeply touches and transforms most all who participate.

Participants can be "client," witness or helper as an individual group member has a "turn" to do deeper heart-centered, body-centered psychospiritual work in the center. Since the electromagnetic field of the heart extends out 10 - 12 feet from our bodies, as we go deeper and open our hearts, we are all touched.

EKP helps restore our capacity as organs of perception. The skin is our largest organ, and a source of soul deep knowing, perception and expression. When our hearts and hands can work as one, we move beyond defenses safely and respectfully and find freedom, connection and expression.

Excerpts from When Love Meets Fear

David Richo has written many wise words about love and relationships.  Here are a few passages from his book When Love Meets Fear

"'True love casts out fear.'  Your true self is where your fearlessness lives.  As long as we are trying to do what other people want us to do, as long as we are afraid of what other people think, we will fear."

"As fear represents what we have not yet integrated, love is what integrates everything.  It is an unconditional responsiveness to what is rather than a conditional response to what we have learned.  Love is total yes.  Fear is no.  Love gives us access to the unconditional being that is our endless potential."

"Unconditional love is the best bodybuilder of the immune system.  The natural instinct of the body is to want to take in love and to experience the joy and harmony that comes from it.  If someone does not let it in, he is having to put out effort to interrupt an instinct towards health and happiness."

"But love also comes at you as a will and an intention focused on you with an unconditional desire for you and an unconditional affirmation of your loveability...Love can scare us because we are required to be vulnerable in order to let it into our lives."

"Love has an authentic feeling in it so you are challenged to follow suit and become authentic in the face of it by feeling something in response to it.  It has power and it confers power...It speaks to you  with an engaged focus so you finally have the attention you have always wanted...It imposes only one obligation and that is: 'be rea.'  Is this why it is so terrifying?"

As we experience emotional safety when we are scared and/or vulnerable, it gives us the space to both honor our own fears, and also experience what it is like to be safely held when vulnerable or scared.  This is a healing experience, and sadly, something we may not have experienced early in life.
It is never too safe to experience safety when scared and vulnerable.  And when that happens, it becomes easier to be real, authentic, open our hearts and give and receive love.
My first blog at www.heartspacecafe.com/blog will still be active, but it is built in forum software, which many people find more cumbersome to use than official "blog" software.

In an effort to cultivate more dialogue in more contemporarily relevant ways, my new blog at HealingHeartPower.blogspot.com is user friendly, and even something you can subscribe to.
Please let me know what you think of this new blog.

Heartfully,

Linda Marks
