This is a critical area, as HIPAA compliance audits in the near term are expected to become increasingly rigorous and broader in scope. Thought Leadership Article on HIPAA Security Placed in  Compliance Today
Marking VantagePoint's new range of expertise in the field, a feature article entitled  Top 10 HIPAA Tips for Covered Entities and Business Associates appeared in the October 2017 issue of Compliance Today, an industry-leading journal published by the  Health Care Compliance Association . In the article, Mr Hadley outlines top security-related challenges presented by Phase 2 OCR audits and how to go about meeting them.
Recognizing Vulnerability a Critical Factor in HIPAA Compliance

About the expertise that Mr. Hadley brings, Susan Prior, VantagePoint President and COO, says: "Many of our clients are facing a struggle not only to implement the administrative measures required for HIPAA compliance, but also to deal with areas of vulnerability they don't even know exist within their own technology infrastructure. This is especially important as it applies not only to our healthcare clients but to the associates and vendors they do business with, as well. Brian's background and credentials make him tremendously qualified to assess vulnerabilities, recommend corrective steps and provide guidance for ongoing compliance management."

Mr. Hadley is already a veteran at VantagePoint, having managed clients' implementation of HIPAA Security Policies and procedures since 2009. Recently, however, Brian's role was greatly expanded as he completed training to become a Certified Information Systems Security Professional, enabling him to directly assist clients by identifying risks and accomplishing risk management goals pertaining to cyber and information security. Additionally, he became a Certified HealthCare Information Security and Privacy Practitioner. This qualifies him to perform Security Assessments and Risk Analyses with a focus on implementing practical measures to manage and protect data.

About his new position, Brian says "It's a revelation to so many of our clients when I show them how the handling of routine information and correspondence can leave the door open to HIPAA problems. This awareness, along with a willingness to make meaningful changes puts them in a good position to protect their patients' data."

Mr. Hadley and a team of other VantagePoint experts are presently offering a broad array of HIPAA compliance services to medical groups, business associates, legal counsel, nonprofits and other healthcare entities, such as skilled nursing facilities.
