Now Accepting Applications for Chatter Matters Communication Camp!

Does your child use a high tech communication device? If so, your child and family may qualify to attend Chatter Matters this summer!

Chatter Matters is a free, four-day, overnight camp held in Williams Bay, WI. Through traditional camp activities, families learn how to use the communication device and incorporate it into their everyday life.


Don't wait! Deadline to apply is March 15th, 2017.

Apply Now for An Adaptive Bicycle! 

Brrrrrrr. It's cold outside. But before you know it, it will be spring! The kids will want to get outside and ride their bikes. So you know what that means? Now is the perfect time to apply for an adaptive bicycle!

Variety is now accepting applications for adaptive bicycles for children with physical disabilities. 

The process for getting an adaptive bike can take several months so don't wait until bike riding season begins. Apply now so your child is ready to ride when the weather turns nice again! 


Variety also funds other types of adaptive and mobility equipment such as wheelchairs, walking devices, ramps, lifts, and much more!

  Variety teens - bring a friend to rock climb & reach new heights! 

Afraid of heights? No worries! There will be trained rock climbing volunteers on site to assist. We understand that some people are a bit uncomfortable with heights and therefore highly encourage one parent or caregiver to attend this event to assist/comfort the teen as needed. Variety will have a private session at the gym!

What: Teen X Adaptive Rock Climbing

Date: Sunday, February 26, 2017

Time: 3:30-5:30 pm

Midwest Adaptive Climbing provides opportunities for persons with disabilities and their loved ones to enjoy the sport and lifestyle of climbing. MAC will provide instruction, adaptive gear, plenty of encouragement and a cool community of people to help reach new heights.

This is a free event for teens with a physical disability, and their peers, age 13-18. 


Adaptive Bike Fair 

When: Wednesday, February 22

Time: 11:00am-7:00pm, plan on staying 1-2 hours

Join us for Emerys Adaptive Bike Fair! This is a learning opportunity for anyone who works with the differently abled. Learn about the many solutions to mobility, exercise, socialization, and life-changing freedom that outdoor and indoor adaptive bicycling can offer. Variety staff will be available at the fair to provide information about Variety's funding program.

Katy's Kloset


Are you in need of medical equipment? Consider checking out Katy's Kloset!

Katy's Kloset is a nonprofit lending library that accepts donations of good, used durable medical equipment for children and adults. This equipment can then be borrowed at no charge by those in need. Recipients may keep this equipment for as long as needed, and are asked to return it promptly when no longer needed, so it can be recycled again and put to good use.

Katy's Kloset also accepts donation of medical supplies such as unexpired formula, feeding bags and extensions, incontinence supplies, Chux, wound care items, gauze, tape, etc. Those visiting Katy's Kloset may take these supplies if they have a need for them.

Other items that may be found at Katy's Kloset include nebulizers, blood pressure machines, diabetic supplies, compression stockings, Ace bandages, Cpap machines and much more. The supply available is dependent on donations of these items.

Adaptive Curling Class

Adaptive (Stick) curling provides an opportunity for people of all physical ability and ages to experience the excitement and challenge of the sport of curling on an equal and competitive basis in a social atmosphere.

Adaptive curling classes will be held at the Wauwatosa Curling Club on:

February 25th, 2017 - 10:00am-11:00am
March 18th, 1:00pm-2:00pm

There is no cost to participate.

Koolway Sports designs outerwear for people with or without disabilities, enabling them to achieve the maximum level of independence in all aspects of life! Products include coats, blanket back, hoods, Kool Boots and accessories.


This is a one of a kind fashion show that is both inspirational and emotional. The fourth annual "This is How WE Roll Fashion Show" is set for April 9th at the Embassy Suites in Brookfield. Over 40 models, all in wheelchairs, will model the latest fashions. Each model is "Rolling the Runway for Research" with benefits going to the Bryon Riesch Paralysis Foundation (BRPF). Advanced tickets are $20 for adults, $10 for kids with children under 5 free. Day of event tickets are $25 for adults, $15 for kids ages 6-17, children under 5 free.

Seating and raffle start at 2:00pm with the fashion show from 3:00 to 5:00 pm.

B roadscope Respite & Recreation Clubs

Respite and Recreation Club (R&R club) is a drop-off evening of fun for any child with a disability birth to 21 and their siblings. This is a chance for parents to enjoy an evening out. The kids participate in arts & crafts, games, and other activities. The R&R clubs are run by Broadscope staff and volunteers from the community. Any family living in the 6 counties Broadscope serves can attend: Milwaukee, Waukesha, Washington, Ozaukee, Kenosha, and Racine.
