Chavurot Shabbat Service and Dinner
|
Friday, April 27, 6:15 p.m.
Chavurah
Initiative Creates Nuclear Families
The chavurah initiative is an attempt to create small groups, or "nuclear families," within the larger extended family that is Temple Shir Tikva.
Chavurot are small groups of families, perhaps four or five, who take turns getting together to celebrate Shabbat occasionally in each others' homes, build a sukkah together, share the joys of going on a nature walk or a multi-family bike ride, share in each others'simchas, or even help in the difficult times when we need each other more than ever.
The point is these chavurot can be whatever we wish them to be; they are small groups of "chaverim" who are practicing being Jewish together. We hope you're enthusiastic about being a part of this exciting way to build connections in the TST community.
Now that you can't wait to get involved, make sure you join us for our
Chavurah kick-off family friendly dinner on April 27, after Shabbat services. Join us for a family-friendly Friday night service (Cantor Hollis will deliver a drosh about chavurot) and stay for dinner. During dinner, you will have the opportunity to meet and mingle with groups of temple members who are seeking similar experiences, and there will be opportunities to start creating these groups.

Adult Education: Rabbi Blumberg: In Search of Faith - The Dilemma for Moderns
|
Wednesdays, May 9, 16, 23, 7:30 p.m.
For we moderns, always in search of certainty, the notion of "faith" that transcends rational thought is hard to absorb. And yet, we know that science and logic do not provide satisfactory answers to the most profound questions of life.
In a classic essay, The Lonely Man of Faith, Rabbi Joseph B. Soleveitchik
z"l explores this dilemma by careful examination of the two portraits of Adam (Ahdahm) presented in the first chapters of Genesis. We will study this essay slowly, unpacking its richness with the hope of finding new insights for our own spiritual journeys.
There is no charge for this class but we ask that you register here.

Tuesday, May 8, 6:00 p.m., St. Julia Church, 374 Boston Post Road, Weston
The Weston-Wayland Interfaith Action Group is celebrating its 30th anniversary! Following a buffet dinner, keynote speaker Dr. Diana Eck will address the question "Does Pluralism Have a Future?"
In Harvard's Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Dr. Eck is Professor of Comparative Religion and Indian Studies, and the Fredric Wertham Professor of Law and Psychiatry in Society. She is also a member of the Faculty of Divinity, and founder and director of the Pluralism Project at Harvard, which gathers and studies data on the radical changes taking place in America's religious landscape. Forming interfaith bonds as a means to building a truly pluralistic society is a prominent focus in Eck's work.

trazvi1969@gmail.com
