One Love Week
Due to last Wednesday's storm our One Love evening program has been moved to Wednesday, March 28.While we are disappointed that the event has had to be moved, out of lemons we're making lemonade, as we're now pleased to share that our neighbor Malcolm Astley, who regularly works with One Love, will be joining us for the end of the evening to speak to the parents and the 9th-12th graders. Malcolm's daughter Lauren was tragically murdered by her ex-boyfriend in 2011 and ever since then he has worked tirelessly to draw attention to the very real problems of relationship abuse.

Temple Shir Tikva is joining with the One Love Foundation for "One Love Week"

Learn more about The One Love Foundation at  www.joinonelove.org

One Love will then be taking over AISH (this program is also open to children who are not regular participants in the AISH program).
For Parents of Teenagers we will have a session about Starting the Conversation equipping them with tools to talk to their kids about their relationships.
This program is in part made possible through the generosity of the Marjorie Levitan Youth Memorial Fund established at Temple Shir Tikva.
Heresy in the Talmud with Rabbi Danny
Wednesdays, March 28, April 11, 25  7:30 p.m.
In this course we will look at a variety of Talmudic stories and the characters within them. These stories could be considered heretical, and yet they are preserved, recorded, and studied to this day. We continue in that chain, studying those texts together.

Pesach is Coming!
'For seven days you shall eat matzah...
No chametz will be found in any of your domain." (Exodus 13:7)

For many Jewish families, the Mitzvah of not owning any chametz (leavened products) on Pesach is taken quite literally, and we follow the tradition of selling it off before the holiday so that, in fact, we own no chametz whatsoever when the holiday arrives. Once again, Shir Tikva is offering to SELL all of your family's chametz in fulfillment of this tradition.  All you need to do is segregate any chametz that is remaining in your home into a discreet box or cabinet and fill out the "Intent to Sell" form that the Temple will provide you.

If you would like Rabbi Danny to sell your chametz in fulfillment of the Mitzvah of mechirat chametz, please return this form to Karen Edwards in the Temple no later than Monday, March 26.

Dealing with Addiction
Sunday, April 8, 4:30-6:00 p.m.

In our own congregation, as in every congregation, families and friends have been touched by this broader societal issue. It is time to open a community conversation because we know our TST families are certainly not immune, and we have much to learn about how we can support one another. Individuals in our community suffer in silence and in secret, often as a result of shame and fear of stigma. Our tradition teaches, "Kol Yisrael arevim zeh la-zeh -That all Jews are responsible for one another."

Whether or not you have been touched personally, we encourage everyone in the community to attend and participate in an informative presentation and discussion to learn more.
This program was made possible by a generous grant from The Ruderman Synagogue Inclusion Project
Our speaker will be: Diana Clark, JD, MA, Family Addictions Consultant

The event is free and no RSVP is necessary.

Adult Education: Rabbi Blumberg: In Search of Faith - The Dilemma for Moderns
Wednesdays, May 9, 16, 23

For we moderns, always in search of certainty, the notion of  "faith" that transcends rational thought is hard to absorb. And yet, we know that science and logic do not provide satisfactory answers to the most profound questions of life.

In a classic essay, The Lonely Man of Faith, Rabbi Joseph B. Soleveitchik z"l  explores this dilemma by careful examination of the two portraits of  Adam (Ahdahm) presented in the first chapters of Genesis. We will study this essay slowly, unpacking its richness with the hope of finding new insights for our own spiritual journeys.

There is no charge for this class but we ask that you  register here.
