A Scholar-in-Residence Weekend with Rabbi Jordan Bendat-Appell  
March 23-25, 2018
   
Join us for a weekend of study and practice with Rabbi Bendat-Appell, the Program Director and teacher of Jewish mindfulness for the Institute for Jewish Spirituality. Before working at the Institute, Rabbi Bendat-Appell served as a congregational rabbi, studied at Zen centers in California and France, led spiritually engaged Jewish backpacking trips, worked at a number of Jewish summer camps, and studied Jewish text at yeshivot in Jerusalem. He is a founder of the Center for Jewish Mindfulness in Chicago, now a part of Orot: Center for New Jewish Learning. Bendat-Appell is also a 2014 recipient of the Covenant Foundation's Pomegranate Prize for emerging Jewish educators.

Boats in the Night - The Danish Exception

Join us for a stimulating evening with visiting Danish psychologist, Dr. Georg Busch who will describe and analyze how it was possible for most Danish Jews to escape to Sweden and avoid deportation during the Nazi occupation of Denmark.

Membership in LLAIC is free for Temple Shir Tikva members and their parents and all classes are conveniently held in our Shir Tikva classrooms.
 
Many wonderful courses are open and waiting for you. It's still first-come, first-served so if you want to register for a course, don't delay. You can reach our online registration page by going to our website: www.llaic.org
If you are not already a member of LLAIC, you must first "purchase" your membership, but of course, it's free for Shir Tikva members. To do this, click on "Select Membership," which is in the blue bar at the top of the registration page. 
 
The fall schedule and full list of courses are available on the Course Schedule page. Courses that are full are noted there, but there are still many openings across a wide spectrum of stimulating and fun areas of study. Classes start on Tuesday Feb. 27. And there are choices of ten-week or five-week offerings, in fields ranging from science and politics to art and music.
