Miss Widner's News

Dear Students, Parents, Grandparents, and Staff,   
     Well, the summer has flown by so quickly, and we will be starting school in a few weeks! Our staff is looking forward to another awesome year at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic School!!
     We look forward in seeing everyone on Verification Day , August 6-7. New families can come on August 6, and the rest of our current families we will see on August 7. Please be sure to read through this newsletter for all forms that need to be signed and turned in on Verification Day. Also, Mrs. Busch, the librarian, will have the library open during Verification Day for those students who still need to take their AR Summer Tests! Hours will be August 6th from 5:00-7:30 PM and August 7 from 8:00-1:00 and 4:00-7:00.

Congratulations to Jose Solis, 8th grader!
Congratulations to Jose Solis, one of our talented 8th graders! He participated in a Three Rivers Festival art event called "Drive Alive Chalk Event." He submitted a creative drawing  promoting driving with no distractions! He was the overall winner!! The local artist took his drawing and made it into a chalk drawing. He received a Certificate of Participation and a gift card to United Arts and Supply! Congratulations, Jose! We are proud of you!!
 
Verification Day Forms

Please print these forms, fill them out, and bring them with you to registration day (August 6th
5:00-7:30 PM for New and Mentor Families and August 7th for all Families 8:00-1:00 and 4:00-7:00).

Verification Day Tables
Located in the Cafeteria
Listed below are the tables you will visit on verification day (August 6th and 7th).  We have included a brief description for each table.  Each family will receive a registration day pass which will include all the tables to visit.  These are specific tables that will be marked on your pass that you MUST attend.  (These tables are noted by an *).  You will check out at the Finance table.  

1. * Registration Table:  Please check in at this table and turn in all
of your registration forms.

2.  * Transportation:  All parents MUST stop by the transportation table.  At this table you will be informing the school of your transportation needs.  You will let us know the following:  (bus transportation needed for AM & PM, car rider information, walker information, day care bus information, and SW Allen County bus - PM).

This table is important because we need to know how your child is arriving and leaving school.

3.  * Lunch Table - You MUST stop by this table.  We are requesting that families pay for at least the first two weeks of lunch at this table.
  
4.   Athletic Association - Please stop by this table if your child will be participating in school athletics.  This is for students in grades 
3-8.

5.   Scrip - Please stop by this table to buy Scrip or to find out more about this program.  Each family will need to fill out a scrip Verification form for tuition.

6.   National Athletic Sportswear - At this table you can purchase the following uniforms for school (polo shirts, sweatshirts, fleece jackets, pants, shorts & gym uniforms).   Gym uniforms are required for students in grades 6-8.
 
7.  School Nurse-Immunization Table - At this table you must drop off your child's immunization records if you have not already done so.
 
8.  Girl Scouts - if your daughter is interested in Girl Scouts, please stop by this table.  This is for girls in K-8.
 
9.  Spirit Wear - This table offers you many items in spirit wear showing support of our school. (These items are not part of the school uniform).
 
10.  *HASA Table - At this table you will pick up your family packet, which has valuable school information.
 
11.  Schoolkidz Supply Kits - If you placed an order for Schoolkidz supply kits, you may pick these items up at this table.  These kits were ordered last Spring.
 
12. * Social Media and Flocknotes Table - If you have not already done so, this location will have iPads available for you to sign up for Flocknotes.  This will be the communication tool that the school will use for delays, cancellations, and other important messages that are sent via texts! This table will also have the latest information on all social media Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic School uses- Twitter, Facebook, Constant Contact, etc... 
 
13.  * Finance Table - This is your final stop of the day.  Here you make your payment or confirm your that your FACTS payment plan has been set up.  If you will be paying your invoice through FACTS monthly payments, please make sure you have set up your FACTS payment plan prior to registration in order to avoid a delay at check-out. If you have not set up your FACTS payment plan, you will be required to do so before checking out.
 
Verification Day Fees
1.  If you are paying tuition in full for the 2018-19 school year, this payment is due on August 6th or 7th.

2.  The following fees are due on Verification Day:

A.  Student Fees - $335.00 per K-8th grade student.  (This fee includes book fees, technology fee, and student insurance).

B.  HASA - $40.00 per Preschool-8th grade family - these dues help our school pay for student field trips, technology for students and teachers, our fine arts department, student and teacher appreciation, 8th grade awards reception and luncheon, Field Day, and much more!

C.  Burger King - $30 per Preschool-8th grade family.  Each family will receive 10 Burger King booklets in January.  These booklets may be sold for $3.00 each.
 
Smmer Reading for Grades 5-8!!
Dear parents of students in grades 5-8,

Summer reading consists of using the Accelerated Reading program to earn your summer reading credit. Students in grades 5-8 are expected to get 15 points over the summer. Please use this link to make sure that you will receive enough points.

Some books are smaller and have fewer points attached to them. In that case, you might need to read two smaller books to get your 15 points. The library will be open this summer on Wednesdays from 9:00 to 1:00 from June 27-August 8 so that when you are finished with your summer reading book you don't have to wait until the first week of school to take your test. You do have the option of waiting until school starts at which point you will need to take the AR test in the first week of school. After the first week, it will be considered a zero. This will be a zero for a test grade which will negatively affect your first quarter Literature/Reading grade.

School Picture Day
on Verification Day
We are very excited to announce that we will be working with 
Lifetouch for our school pictures this year!  
 
New this year, each family who orders a picture package will receive a free classroom group picture instead of a yearbook.  There will be an opportunity to order yearbooks at a later date.  This year's yearbook will be in color!
 
Students in grades PK-8 will get their school pictures taken on registration day, August 6th & August 7th. Students may wear dress-up clothes for pictures. You may download the picture order form below or you may pick up the form at registration.  If you are unable to attend registration day, we do reschedule a retake day for pictures. 
 
You do have the opportunity to place your order online before verification day.  Please go to  mylifetouch.com.  You will need to include the Picture ID:  JZ018050Y0.
 
 
Social Media Information!!! 
On Verification Day, you will be stopping by the Social Media Table. This table will have you sign up for Flocknotes (texting service that keeps you informed of delays, cancellations, and important information), our new Twitter page, and new Facebook page. Facebook and Twitter are live at this time so feel free to sign up for both of them right now! For Facebook, go to your own personal account and then search for Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic School. For our Twitter page, go to your Twitter account and type in SEASCSFW and click on to "follow." 
 
 
 Cafeteria News
Mrs. Horn, our cafeteria manager, will be available on verification day, August 6th & 7th so that you may deposit money into your student's lunch account. Please note that cash or a separate check will have to be used for lunch fees.  Depositing money directly on Verification Day will update your student's lunch account immediately.  If you would like to charge your lunch fees, this option will be available.  However, if you do choose to charge your lunch fees there will be a 3% convenience fee assessed and there will be a delay in updating the payment into your child's lunch account.   Please make sure you stop by the Lunch Table on registration day.
 
*****Also, please note that our school lunch has increased to $2.90. Our breakfast price will remain at $1.60. Adult lunch prices are $3.60.

All families will receive a Free/Reduced Lunch Application in their family registration envelope.  If your family qualifies for free or reduced lunch, please fill the form out and return it to

2018-2019 Arrival & Dismissal Times

Arrival time for students in grades 5-8 will be the same. Students may go to their classroom at 7:35 and classes begin at 7:45 AM. 

 

Arrival time for students in grades Preschool-4th grade will be the same. Students will go to their classrooms at 7:45 and their school day will begin at 8:00 AM.

 

As always, the doors will open at 7:00 AM.  Students may go to either the cafeteria or at 7:20 the PAC (Gym) until the bell rings. We also will offer breakfast from 7:00-7:35 AM in the cafeteria. 

 

If you have a 5th grader and Middle School student and a student in grade PreK-4, please be assured that your PreK-4 student may come at the same time as the 5th grade and Middle School.  Students in PreK-4 will either go to the cafeteria or the PAC (Gym).

 

Dismissal time will be the same as last year; 2:55 (Preschool) 

3:00 (buses, daycare), 3:05 (Homestead Lot grades K-4).  

3:10 (Aboite Lot) Grades 5-8 and siblings in K-4.

Transportation Reminders

Dear Families of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic School:
 
Greetings and I hope you are having a wonderful summer. With school right around the bend I wanted to give you a brief summary on important transportation news/information. A map of our parking lot procedures will be sent to families by mail and we will have them available at registration. A detailed guide of our transportation procedures is included in our handbook but here are just a few friendly reminders.    
In the morning, grades 5-8  students will go to their classrooms at 7:35 and the beginning of school bell/tardy bell will be at 7:45. 
 
Grades PK-4 will go to their classrooms at 7:45 and the beginning of school bell/tardy bell will be at 8:00.
 
As a courtesy to families, the school will open at 7:00 AM. If arriving before 7:20 students will go to the cafeteria and have the option of eating breakfast.  If arriving at 7:20 or later, students may go to the PAC and will be supervised until they go to their classrooms.
 
The dismissal schedule for 2018-2019 will be the following:
 
2:55    Any Preschool students
 
3:00:  Any student(s) using Southwest Allen County or After School Daycare providers
 
3:05: Homestead Lot Dismissal (Students in grades K-4)
 
3:10: Aboite Lot Dismissal (Students in grades 5-8 and siblings in K-4)
 
As a reminder, all school delay and cancellation information will be announced via Flocknotes, WANE, 21 Alive, and WOWO. Instructions/assistance to sign up for Flocknotes will be available at registration.  If you are having trouble signing up, please contact me and I will be more than happy to assist. 
 
As a reminder, if you are planning to use Southwest Allen County Schools for busing services, please contact them directly to sign up.  Because of the "No Transportation Zones, we are advising parents and families to contact SWAC to make sure this is a viable option for them. You can contact SWAC at (260) 431-2070.
 
We do communicate with after school daycare facilities to offer busing services to their business.  If you would like to use this option, please contact the Daycare provider.
 
Finally, as you arrive to drop off and pick up your students for the year, please follow these rules.
 
  1. Please follow staff instructions and guidance out in the parking lot at all times.
  2. When dropping students off, please have your student exit on the SIDEWALK side of the car.
  3. When dropping off, please do not get out of the car while in the carpool lane to get your student out. Have them ready to go. This allows the carpool lane to run more efficient. If you need to get out of the car, please park in the Aboite parking lot.
  4. Please keep your vehicle in the carpool lane and do not drive around.  We are doing our best to get everyone exiting their vehicles and moving cars forward as best as we can.
  5. Do not back up anytime while in the parking lot.
  6. Wait to leave the parking lot at dismissal until you are instructed to dismiss by staff. This is for the safety of all children, parents, drivers, etc.
  7. If there are any changes to your transportation situation, please call/email the school office and let us know. 
  8. If your student will be absent or late for the day, please call/email the school office and let us know.

 
We are doing our best to maintain an efficient but most importantly safe environment for our school.  We need all of your cooperation in this matter. Please make sure you stop by the transportation table at registration to fill out a transportation form.  We need a form filled out for each student.  I wish everyone a fun and safe rest of the summer, and I am very excited to see you in August.
