Volume 5 |February 1, 2017

Happy February!

Even though February is a short month we have a jam-packed calendar of events and other exciting things going on.

This week we have our after 5 social to help Monte Stoleson prepare for retirement! We have loved our experiences at Monte’s Grill & Pub over the years! So please join us beginning at 5 pm tomorrow! More details below.

We also have another of our great networking lunches coming up next week on Wednesday the 8th at Draft House! Register early and save! Registration details below.

And, don’t forget to register for Blue Hawaii, our Annual Meeting set for Thursday, February 23rd at The Heights! It will be a not-to-miss evening, complete with fire dancers and Hawaiian appetizers! You will forget you are still in snowy, cold Wisconsin! And, it’s a great opportunity to pull out that Hawaiian shirt in your closet!

We are still looking for sponsors for the event and raffle prizes for the Raffle You Can’t Lose! Contact Molly or myself, if you are interested in donating!

Finally, be prepared for lots of transition photos as we hammer, saw and paint our way through the Chamber office renovation. This project has been a long time in the works and we are so excited! During the remodel, we will be in temporary office space graciously donated by Wisconsin Bank and Trust! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Our telephone number and email addresses will stay the same during this time. We don’t anticipate any interruption in Chamber / Welcome Center services!

Looking forward to seeing you at our February events!

VACC Building Renovation
Those of you who have visited us in person know that our office space has become a little dated. One of the things we're most looking forward to is having a large community room that can be rented out as well as provide a space for some of our Chamber events! But we need your help! If you're interested in contributing to our renovations financially or through goods and services, please contact Le Jordan at [email protected] or call 845-5777 to learn more about your contribution options.
Member Dues
Membership Dues were e-mailed the beginning of January. We will be sending out hard copies, but if your business did not receive it's invoice or if you have any questions or concerns about remitting payment, please call or email Molly
845-5777.

Four Seasons Theatre presents: "The Stories of Fiddler on the Roof"
February 14 | 6:30 pm

The stories behind the Fiddler come alive in a family-friendly, free performance by FourSeasons Theatre.  The short stories of Yiddish folklorist Sholem-Aleichem were the genesis of the musical Fiddler on the Roof, but there are other stories of the creative process, as well. In this program, the audience will learn how the creative team—made up of composer Jerry Bock, lyricist Sheldon Harnick, playwright Joseph Stein, director Jerome Robbins, and producer Hal Prince—brought these tales to life on the Broadway stage.

This hour-long program features a quartet of some of the best local singers bringing you the stories and songs of Fiddler, such as “If I Were a Rich Man,” “Matchmaker, Matchmaker,” “Tradition,” and “Sunrise, Sunset.” This program is produced by Four Seasons Theatre as an outreach component of its 2016–2017 season and draws on the work of Alisa Solomon, author of Wonder of Wonders: A Cultural History of Fiddler on the Roof. For those in the audience who like to sing, there will be an opportunity to join the performers in singing a familiar Fiddler tune.

“The Stories of Fiddler on the Roof” is produced with support from the Beyond the Page program, a joint effort of the Dane County Library Service and the Madison Community Foundation to create a permanent endowment that will support expanded humanities programming in all 28 public libraries in Dane County. The Beyond the Page program is supported by the National Endowment for the Humanities and the Madison Community Foundation.

Classical Concert Series - Mozart: A Jekyll and Hyde Sort of Guy
February 23 | 6:30 pm

In addition to music, audience members will be treated to some of Mozart’s letters. This free performance is part of the Classical Concert Series presented in partnership with the Rhapsody Arts Center, Inc.
