You have recently heard about a FlashMob, Yes, the phenomenon that has swept the world in recent years and has entertained hundreds of thousands of unsuspecting people in the process.

Now, given that success, a new idea has arisen that will likely prove to be equally as impactful as FlashMobs have been, but with a more profound & lasting effect. CashMob's have been born!

Here's how it works

A local business gets selected, and at a given time & day, local networks of conscious & considerate individuals show up & spend at least $20 buying the business's products, giving them a huge sales boost at one time. Pretty simple.

A few weeks ago, Peter Comrie, Rapid Time Networks Regional Partner & Chamber Partner, asked some folks in West Kelowna to survey local businesses and make a short list of ones they feel could use a boost in sales. The business owner had to be from the community & have played a role in enriching local life.

Everyone came back to Peter with a list, and surprisingly, one particular name was on every list.

ELLEN MELCOSKY, "Little Miss Chief"....Here is Ellen's story....Ellen Melcosky

Ellen is President & CEO of Little Miss Chief Gourmet Products Inc. and a member of the Esketemc First Nation, has found success in the gourmet marketplace with her smoked salmon; using a unique brining process from a recipe started from her grandmother and improve on by her mom. Ellen recalls: No one cooked it better than my mom. She had a unique method of brining & smoking salmon.

Ellen began experimenting with her mother's recipe years ago, and in 1996, began distributing her salmon sensation. She worked on it for 5 years, using hot & cold smoking techniques, finally choosing the cold. She explains, "I decided to alter the recipe & incorporate the use of dry white wine into my brining method."

The cooking process involves filleting & marinating the fish with wine & spices, which is later slowly smoked over natural woodchips. Using no preservatives or colours, the salmon is quickly packaged into the gold foil retort pouches & thermally processed in steam. This produces a product that requires no refrigeration until opened, while savouring the natural juices in the pouch.

Ellen's husband, Edward had an accident a couple of years ago and is on dialysis awaiting a kidney transplant. Her business has taken a severe financial hit during this time and yet Ellen maintains an attitude and schedule that would flatten most people.

So here's what we're going to do....

This Saturday, April 20, 1:00 - 3:00 pm, we are going to gather at Buy The Sea, the store that retails Ellen's amazing products and commit to spending at least $20 "Little Miss Chief" products!
