Victory! PA House Passes
Bill to Stop Dismemberment Abortions

From Maria Gallagher, Legislative Director, [email protected]

The Pennsylvania House of Representatives has now passed House Bill 1948, a common sense piece of legislation which bans brutal dismemberment abortions. The bill now moves on to the PA Senate.

But our work is not done! Please call your state Senator and urge him or her to support a ban on gruesome dismemberment abortions. If you don't know who your state Senator is, or you need the phone number, please go to http://www.legis.state.pa.us/cfdocs/legis/home/findyourlegislator/#address .

Please note: This is state legislation, not federal, so you do not need to call U.S. Senators Bob Casey or Pat Toomey.

Background:

Dismemberment abortions typically occur in the second trimester of pregnancy. They involve tearing a baby limb by limb from the mother's womb. They are also known as a D & E abortions. As U.S. Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy wrote, "No one would dispute that, for many, D&E is a procedure itself laden with the power to devalue human life."

Thank you once again for the help you gave in making this victory possible!
