Dear Westies,
It is hard to believe that we are already two weeks into the school year! Please join us on
Tuesday, September 12th at 7pm in the library for our first monthly PTO meeting of the year.
The PTO has been hard at work planning spirit nights, spirit wear, before and after school clubs and much more. We can't do this without our amazing volunteers from committee chairs to room parents to cafeteria helpers. Thank you for giving your time!

Fall 2017 Clubs & Activities
Enrollment dates are from Wednesday September 6th through Wednesday September 20th. NO forms are accepted after September 20th!
Clubs will be starting the week of September 25th and go through mid to late November.
Registration forms went home in the white folders on Wednesday, September 6th. Forms can also be downloaded from the
Clubs and Activities page. Checks can be made out to VESPTO. You can also
pay via PayPal through the site.

Join Today!
Please support the Victory Elementary School PTO by joining us today! Your membership dues of $15 per family ($5 for Victory staff members) go DIRECTLY back to assembly programs for our students, specific school enhancement projects voted on by PTO members, staff appreciation events and much more!
Each membership during the 2017-18 school year will receive a complimentary Victory magnet.
The classroom with the most memberships will earn 15 minutes of extra recess time!
Why join the PTO?
● To connect with other parents who care just as passionately about our school.
● There is a lot of work to be done - many hands make light work!
● It is a fun way to work with your friends - and make new ones - by making a difference in our school and the community.
What exactly do we do?
● The VESPTO assists each teacher and grade level in the form of volunteer and monetary support.
● In previous years the PTO fundraisers have helped bring amazing programs to our school such as Omega Man's anti-bullying assembly. In 2016-17 we were proud to be able to support the school's new Watch D.O.G.S. program, purchase an adaptive swing that all of our students may use, and purchase three water bottle filling stations that were added to the school's water fountains.
● Through our amazing volunteers, the PTO organizes many things, such as the school yearbook, after school clubs, spirit nights, The Westie Waggle fundraiser, our annual adult Basket Bingo night fundraiser and the Race to Victory 5k and 1 mile Fun Run.

Congratulations to our Volunteers of the Month:
Alison Johanson and
Katie Liszkay! Alison worked hard at planning out Spirit Nights for the entire school year in advance! And Katie not only did a fabulous job handing our SchoolKidz orders last year, she also bravely dealt with some serious delivery issues affecting the first week of school. Way to go, Alison and Katie!!
Westie Parents - THANK YOU!
We want to thank all of the parents & volunteers that have already done so much from donating breakfast items for the Back to School Breakfast for the teachers, staff & faculty to helping out the first week to ensure it goes smoothly. We appreciate all that you've done in such a short amount of time & couldn't have done it without you!
Be on the lookout in the coming weeks for a Sign-Up Genius email for volunteering in the Library, Bus Evacuation drill, as well as our Volunteer Orientation training!

2nd Annual 'Dads and Kids' Pizza Night! There will be FREE pizza and drinks for everyone beginning at 6pm. At 6:30, we will hae a presentation about our

®
is an innovative program being used by schools across America which helps them to be positively impacted by the committed involvement of fathers and father-figures in their student's life. Our goal is to have you spend at least one day this at the school to be a positive male role model and to provide an extra set of eyes and ears.
Dads, granddads, uncles, step-dads, and adult brothers . . . this is your chance to have a night out alone with your student in a fun atmosphere at school.
In order to participate, you need to do two things:
- A yellow RSVP form was sent home with the students on Wednesday, September 6th. Please complete the form and return to the school ASAP (by Monday, September 18th) saying you will attend the pizza night so we'll have an accurate head count for the food. You can also RSVP online.
- Mark your calendars, and we'll see you Thursday, September 21st from 6-7pm.

The Victory Elementary School Library now features a red bookshelf in honor of Jonah Diaz, a 1
st
grade student who passed away from brain cancer in 2015. Since Jonah was an avid reader who would want children to have access to their favorite books, the bookshelf theme is "hot books"- the books that are in highest demand and most checked out.
