Festival 2014 Video
A look back at our 10th Anniversary

Let's take a look back at this great, dynamic short video about last year's event! (Hey, you might even be in there...).

We are gearing up for 2015 and we'll make sure to take on last year's success to make our 11th edition even better!
Founding Member Philippe Muyl
Is in the race for an Oscar nomination!

When we started Focus on French Cinema in 2005, Philippe Muyl was one of our very first guests and became a Founding Member of Focus on French Cinema, were he presented his timeless film Le Papillon (The Butterfly).

We couldn't be happier to see his French-Chinese movie The Nightingale (Le Promeneur d'oiseau) being in the race for a Foreign Language Film nomination at the Academy Awards, 10 years later...

We wish him the best of luck, along with the other French productions and co-productions:
- Saint Laurent (Bertrand Bonello, with Gaspard Ulliel)
- Timbuktu (Abderrahmane Sissako, with Ibrahim Ahmed)
- Two Days, One Night (Jean Pierre & Luc Dardenne, with Marion Cotillard).

Nobel Prize Winner's Ties with French Cinema

French writer Patrick Modiano, who just won the Nobel Prize in Literature "for the art of memory with which he has evoked the most ungraspable human destinies and uncovered the life-world of the occupation", also wrote several screenplays for the big screen, including: Lacombe, Lucien (by Louis Malle), Le Fils de Gascogne (by Pascal Aubier), Bon Voyage (by Jean-Paul Rappeneau). Also, several of his novels were adapted: Une Jeunesse, Villa Triste (Le Parfum d'Yvonne) and Dimanches d'Aot (Te Quiero).
