AleSmith will be continuing our 2013 Reserve Series releases with Vietnamese Speedway Stout and Barrel Aged Speedway Stout.

 

This is the first time AleSmith has bottled this ever-popular variation of Speedway Stout.  We began brewing Vietnamese Speedway in 2012 when one of our brewers had the idea to add this blend of four Vietnamese coffees, known in Vietnam as c� ph� sữa đ�, to our popular imperial stout. The result was an instant hit! The coffee beans were slowly roasted at low temperatures and then brewed by AleSmith with a traditional phin-style filter that gently percolates water through the ground coffee. The result is an intensely aromatic and bold tasting coffee that complements the notes of chocolate and roast in this massive stout.

 

If one Speedway wasn't enough, our next batch of Barrel Aged Speedway Stout is ready as well!  We've matured our Russian Imperial Stout in premium bourbon barrels for one year to create the perfect blend of flavors.  Notes of oak, vanilla, and bourbon add another level of complexity to this beer's already massive flavor profile of chocolate, Ryan Bros. Coffee, and roasted barley.

 

Starting August 5th at 10:00am, you will be able to purchase up to four (4) bottles of Vietnamese Speedway Stout and up to six (6) bottles of Barrel Aged Speedway Stout. Please note, your name will be registered once you place your order (you will need to use your name for each bottle).  Any duplicate sales to the same name will be voided!  We want to make this as fair as possible and get as many bottles into our wonderful customer's hands! 

 

Please USE ONLY YOUR NAME TO PURCHASE THE BOTTLES.  YOUR PURCHASE IS JUST FOR YOUR BOTTLES. YOU CANNOT PURCHASE BOTTLES UNDER SOMEONE ELSE'S NAME OR FOR SOMEONE ELSE.  IF YOU BUY THEM, YOU MUST PICK THEM UP. 

 

Bottles can be picked up starting Saturday, August 10th at the AleSmith Tasting Room.  Bottles can be retrieved during tasting room hours from Saturday, August 10th through Sunday, October 13th 2013. (Tasting Room Hours: Tue/Wed/Thurs/Fri: 12-9pm, Sat: 11am-8pm & Sun: 11am-6pm.)  **Any bottles not retrieved by SUNDAY, OCTOBER 13TH will be surrendered back to the brewery (no exceptions).**

Join us at AleSmith Brewing Company on Saturday, August 10th for the Vietnamese Speedway Stout release party (11am-8pm).  The tasting room will be open from 11:00am - 8:00pm and this will be your first day to pick up your previously purchased bottles of Vietnamese Speedway Stout and Barrel Aged Speedway Stout (we will not have any bottles Vietnamese Speedway Stout or Barrel Aged Speedway STout for sale in the tasting room).

We will have Vietnamese Speedway Stout (draft, cask and nitro), Barrel Aged Speedway Stout and a few other specialty Speedway variations we're working on right now.  Saturday will also be your first opportunity to purchase a limited run Vietnamese Speedway Stout shirt.

The tasting room will be open to the public and you don't need to purchase bottles to attend the party or visit the tasting room.  We kindly request that you do not bring large groups to the brewery as they may be turned away.  We will also have San Diego Pizza Company out back cooking up pizza on their authentic wood fired pizza oven.

Don't worry if you can't make the party and you purchase bottles, your bottles will be available for pick up until Sunday, October 13th (during retail hours).  Also, you do not need to purchase bottles to partake in the fun of the release party.  We hope to see you at the brewery on August 10th to celebrate these two special releases.

Join AleSmith Brewing Company on Friday, August 2nd as we board the historic USS Midway for a beach themed night of Steel Drums and beer. This fun filled event begins at 6:00pm with dinner, drums and beer tasting. You'll continue the festivities aboard the ship with music, dancing and presentations about The USS Midway and The San Diego Brewers Guild.

AleSmith is thrilled to again be participating in the great fundraising event known as Stone Brewing Company's Seventeenth Anniversary Celebration and Invitational Beer Festival.  This great event takes place on Saturday, August 17th (multiple sessions available) and we'll be there pouring both our award winning AleSmith IPA and our new Cream Ale.  Tickets are sure to sell out, so make sure you snag yours as soon as possible.  For more information about the event or to purchase tickets, please visit the Stone Brewing Company website.  

 

Join us on Saturday, August 24th for the 2nd Annual Mira Mesa Festival of Beers.  The event takes place from 1:00 - 5:30pm at the Mira Mesa Community Center (8575 New Salem St., San Diego, 92126) and proceeds from the event go to benefit the Mira Mesa Chamber of Commerce.  AleSmith will be on hand pouring our AleSmith X and our flagship beer, Anvil ESB.  For more information about the festival and to buy tickets, please visit the San Diego City Beat website here.

 

To your left is the first peek at the Decadence 2013 label.  The beer has been brewed and we're anticipating a mid September release in the AleSmith tasting room and then into the local market in the following weeks.  

 

A little more about the beer: AleSmith Decadence 2013 is a classic German-style Doppelbock that follows the ancient brewing tradition of Bavarian Monks.  Originally called "liquid bread", this style is characterized by a rich malt backbone that showcases notes of bread crusts and subtle hints of chocolate.  A German lager yeast balances these flavors with a clean, full-bodied finish.
