The 2016-17 school year is quickly winding down. Second semester finals will soon be upon us, and graduation is right around the corner. I am happy to report that Boosters again met its mission of enhancing the Fremd High School student experience by raising funds and providing support services for academic, athletic and cultural programs which benefited every student at Fremd. It has been my honor and pleasure to serve as president of the Viking Booster Club. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the volunteers, booster members, and especially the Booster board and executive board for your service and dedication to Boosters and Fremd High School.
Annual membership in the Booster organization continues to grow. This year more than 950 members joined. Fremd has approximately 2,400 families - there is no reason why at least half (or more) of Fremd families should not be members of Boosters. The membership fee is a modest $25. Because your child directly benefits from the Boosters' support and fund raising, please make sure you consider joining next year. This summer during school registration you can join or visit our website, fremdboosterclub.org at any time.
This month we awarded 20 graduating seniors of Booster member families, $1,000 scholarships. We had very high quality applications this year, and the Scholarship committee members worked hard to identify worthy recipients. Thank you to all our applicants and congratulations to the winners.
Fremd Boosters proudly sponsors the Post Prom event each May in order to provide a safe, chaperoned, affordable and exciting experience for all students. We will head to Bridgeport Arts Center on Saturday May 20th. A huge thank you to our Post Prom committee led by Deb Dompke.
On Tuesday, June 13th, the Fremd Booster Club will hold its annual meeting in Room 2 at Fremd at 7:00 pm. All members of the Booster organization are invited to attend. The annual meeting will officially close the 2016-2017 school year for the current Fremd Viking Booster Board.
I would like to close by thanking Principal Tenopir and all the staff and faculty at Fremd for their support this year. I would also like to thank all of the "retiring" board members for their endless dedication to Fremd and the Booster Club, and of course, thanks to my wife Carol, for putting up with all of the meetings, events, emails, calls, time, etc. spent on behalf of Boosters.
With the involvement from all of you, Fremd Viking Booster Club continues to be strong and vibrant. Have a safe and enjoyable summer.
THANK YOU!
Ed Hansen
President, Fremd Viking Booster Club
