  ChaiVillageLA Recognized for Innovation
ChaiVillageLA was recognized as part of the Milken Institute’s Best Cities for Successful Aging report and index. Check out what was written about us on page 47 of the Milken report:

ChaiVillageLA adds a faith-based focus to the growing “village” concept of supportive communities for independent aging. ChaiVillageLA is a multi-generational membership network that includes older adults as well as families on Los Angeles’ Westside. Launched in 2016 by and for congregants of Temple Emanuel and Temple Isaiah with assistance from a Jewish Community Foundation grant, it takes inspiration from the Hebrew word “chai,” meaning “life,” and focuses on providing resources, services, and companionship to aging adults. All members are expected to volunteer for activities like driving other to medical appointments, helping with household chores, cooking for the sick, and working on village committees. Social and educational programming for all ages includes walking groups, exercise and cultural trips, book clubs and dances, Shabbat dinners and Jewish holiday celebrations.”

Marcia Jindal, a ChaiVillageLA member and Zoo docent for over 30 years, will lead us on a tour through the LA Zoo. The tour will cover at least three types of animals on a 2+ hour walking journey throughout the zoo. Families are free to continue their visit after the tour concludes. There will be a lot of walking, mostly uphill, so plan accordingly. Families are free to bring their own lunches to the event.

For the discount, we must have at least 15 people (otherwise, general admission is $20 per adult 13 years or older; $17 per senior 62 years or older; $15 per child 2-12 years; and children under 2 are free).

What happens when we stop listening to the echo chambers of those who agree with us and hear out the other side? Join Yishai Fleisher –Spokesman for the Jewish community in Hebron and Alan Eisner, Special Advisor to the President of JStreet in conversation with each other as they articulate the case for their respective visions of Israel.
