South End Wine Shop Fetes Grand Opening

with Charitable Event

Twenty percent of proceeds from April 16 open house to benefit Wine to Water

CHARLOTTE, NC -- Vin Master, the regionʼs premiere specialty shop dedicated to organic and sustainable wines, is celebrating its arrival at Atherton Mill with a charitable open house.

From 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday, April 16, twenty percent of that day's proceeds will benefit Wine to Water, the non-profit aid organization focused on providing clean water to needy people around the world. Nearly 1 billion people in the world today lack access to adequate water, and 2.5 billion people lack access to improved sanitation.

winetowaterThe significance of wine isn't lost on Vin Master owner and certified Sommelier Chris Woodrow. One of the worldʼs simplest beverages, wine has been around for more than 4,000 years and it symbolizes fortune in our society. The goal of Wine to Water, a 501c3 aid organization based in Boone, NC,  is to give the fortunate population an opportunity to fight for those who can't fight for themselves.

Partnering with Wine to Water for the store's grand opening in the Historic South End was a natural fit, owner Woodrow says. He and wife Denine were moved by the work of Wine to Water Founder Doc Hendley, who conceptualized the charitable organization while bartending in Raleigh, NC in 2003. Since then, the group has provided clean water and sanitation in many countries including Sudan, India, Cambodia, Uganda, Ethiopia and Haiti.

More about Vin Master

Vin Master organizes wines by flavor profiles rather than region, and Sommelier Chris Woodrow will help visitors identify their preferences. Wines, which range in price from $10-$100, are available by the glass or bottle. Free wine tastings are planned, as are classes with a more structured learning environment.

Vin Master (2000 South Blvd., Suite 610; 704.996.7471) is devoted to sustainability and preservation of the Earth by exposing others to sustainable and organic wines from around the world. Vin Master sees wine as a way connecting peoples and cultures. The business is built on the belief that wines and grapes are at their best when grown naturally.
