HONOR CAMPBELL COUNTY LEADER
J. Michael Davidson Receives Prestigious Cardinal Award
Virginia Beach, Virginia - The Virginia Economic Developers Association (VEDA) presented J. Michael Davidson, Director of Economic Development, Campbell County, Virginia, with the 2017 Cardinal Award at the VEDA Fall Conference on October 13 th in Virginia Beach.
"Mike has been a committed economic developer for more than 18 years contributing to the economic base of Campbell County and the Lynchburg region," said Megan Lucas (Lynchburg Regional Business Alliance) in her nomination of Davidson. "Mike is an honest, consistent, reliable leader in the region. He is a man of character and integrity representing our profession at the highest level."
Davidson was a critical component of securing a major win for the Lynchburg region. The Standard chose the Town of Altavista, located in Campbell County, for their newest location which will bring over $1.5 million in investment and almost 200 jobs to the community of 3400. Davidson's responsibilities include the traditional elements of running a county economic development office, he manages sites and buildings, incentives, staff, volunteers all while delicately maneuvering projects, issues and opportunities in collaboration with elected officials. Davidson holds a Bachelors of Business Administration from Averett University. He received the 2004 Innovator of the Year Award from Virginia's Region 2000 Technology Council.  
The Cardinal Award is the most prestigious award bestowed by VEDA to deserving members. The award recognizes leadership in the field of economic development, outstanding professional accomplishments, and exceptional service to the organization.  Nominations are open in early summer each year to VEDA past or current members. The nominator must be a member ofthe association.
