CHRISTOPHER LLOYD WITH PRESIDENT'S AWARD
Virginia Beach -  Virginia Economic Developers Association (VEDA)president, Debbie Melvin, honored Christopher D. Lloyd with the President's Award at the Association's annual Fall Conference on October 13th.  The VEDA President's Award is intended to recognize an individual who has gone "above and beyond" to establish and promote the Association as the Voice of Economic Development in the Commonwealth.
Chris Lloyd has led VEDA's Public Policy efforts as the committee chair since 1997. VEDA's Public Policy Committee works with the VEDA board to ensure Virginia's continued prosperity by supporting key economic development programs that assist in creating new jobs, investment and maintaining a pro-business climate. Chris leads the McGuireWoods Consulting infrastructure and economic development team, where he specializes in site selection and economic development incentives negotiations. He has also worked closely with clients on numerous public-private partnership projects for transportation and other infrastructure as well as playing a leading role in the development and passage of Virginia's public-private partnership laws. These statutes have since become model legislation for use in other states. Prior to joining McGuireWoods Consulting, Chris served for nearly five years in the Office of the Secretary of Commerce and Trade under Virginia Governors Allen and Wilder. Chris graduated from the College of William and Mary.
"VEDA runs on the power of our volunteers," said Melvin. "We are extremely grateful to Chris for the knowledge, insight, and service that he has given to VEDA over the last 20 years. With Chris' guidance, VEDA has become the principal advocate for economic development in the Commonwealth."
