Our goal with this monthly newsletter is to keep you informed of VLC programming, news, and instructional technology updates. Here are the latest program updates, deadlines and PD opportunities, including information on District's-Choice Online Learning. Learn more about District's-Choice on December 7 at a Lunch & Learn at Cooperating School Districts. District's-Choice is not an online school, but instead a menu of courses that districts can choose from to best meet the learning needs of all students. District's-Choice offers these online learning courses at the lowest prices in the state of Missouri.

Digital Storytelling Contest       

Submissions are due Friday, December 16, 2011 for Cooperating School Districts' annual Show-Me a Movie Contest. Be sure to send in your student's work by then for consideration! Teachers, for more information, click on the image to the left. Winning movies will be showcased at METC 2012. 

Webinar Wednesdays

The VLC has a line up of  webinars during the school year. These free PD sessions will be held 4-5 o'clock on select Wednesdays. Even if you can't attend live, sign up, and you will receive an email notification when the webinar is archived for later viewing.

Integrating Technology Educator Academy

ITEA provides customized, hands-on experiences with creating lessons and unit plans using 21st century teaching tools. ITEA trains educators to promote higher level achievement from students who are engaged in their learning experience.

Building on the ideas of effective technology integration and student inquiry, this academy focuses on using technology to enhance higher-order thinking skills, specific to your classroom needs.

With enhanced technology and teaching skills, teachers will be able to integrate technology into the curriculum and use teaching strategies to promote higher order thinking skills for students.
