The Maryland Department of Planning is pleased to announce that Alfred "Al" Sundara, Manager of the State Data Center, will be part of a technology panel on Wednesday, August 16th, at the Maryland Association of Counties' (MACo)Tech Expo.

Al will be co-presenting with Michael Morello, Director of the Governor's Office of Performance Improvement, to talk about population and employment data at the session titled " Big Data and Big Ideas Making Better Government." (See MACo's Tech Expo brochure)

Michael Morello will talk about the state's rich repository of current population, employment, and demographic data, while Al will focus on how the State Data Center takes current data and demographics and makes projections for the future.

Big Data and Big Ideas Making Better Government will be held in Room 206 of the Ocean City Convention Center from 3:15 to 4:15 pm on Wednesday, August 16. Hear how federal, state, and local levels of government are improving transparency and performance from representatives of the U.S. Census Bureau, the Governor's Customer Service Workgroup, and county stat offices.

MACo's Tech Expo, from 7:30 am to 4 pm on Wednesday of the Summer Conference, is a one-day event co-hosted by the Maryland Tech Council, featuring technology leaders, tech-focused educational sessions for local government officials, and partnership-building opportunities.
