February 6, 2018      Finger Lakes Connected
I'm feeling grateful for the power of visualization and feeling very proud of Sean! His company had a 2017 sales contest. Aruba! When he told me about it, I immediately started picturing us on the white sandy beach w rum drinks in hand even. I asked him to do same but he's not into these type things. I said cmon ...for Aruba??? We've never been!!! So he reluctantly said he'd visualize and he worked hard selling of course. I kept asking him at random times are you seeing yourself on the beach? Lol. He'd be like oh yeah! And I think I could really see him concentrating on doing it! Around Christmas he told me he's out of contention because new sales guy has low quota that he is crushing. I said keep visualizing. You never know. Maybe company will change parameters or new guy can't go or whatever. I personally never gave up bc I like beach visions anyway. Well, Sean came in THIRD place and guess what? The company prob did so well from all these motivated salespeople that they decided to take the top three! Woohoo! Grateful for ...well ...EVERYTHING! Ps Maybe the Eagles were visualizing? One of the better superbowls I've seen and I loved the Steven Tyler car commercial where he goes back in time...Dream On!  :)

American Heart Month 2018 - You're in Control
This year's focus is younger adults as you are at Risk. National trends show heart disease death rates are declining more slowly than they have in the past, especially among adults ages 35 to 64. In many communities across the U.S. death rates are actually increasing in the age group. Not only are younger adults dying of heart disease, but their rates of risk factors - such as physical inactivity, tobacco use and hypertension - are also increasing. Younger adults can take control of their heart health. Find time to be active - aim for at 30 minutes of physical activity every day. Make healthy eating a habit - small changes in your eating habits can make a big difference. Try eating healthier versions of your favorite recipes. How to do this? Look for ways to lower sodium and trans fat, and add more fruits and vegetables. Eliminate one fast food or restaurant meal each week. Quit tobacco for good. Smoking cigarettes and using other tobacco products affects nearly every organ in the body, including your heart. Quitting is tough so contact 1-800-QUIT-NOW (1-800-784-8669). Know your numbers - High blood pressure and high cholesterol ae major risks for heart disease. Ask your health care team to check blood pressure and blood cholesterol levels regularly and help you take steps to control your levels. Stick to the 'script - taking your medications can be tough especially if you feel fine. Sticking to your medication routine is important for managing and controlling conditions that could put your heart at risk. These heart healthy tips are brought to you by Canandaigua The Medicine Shoppe.
