Study Reveals Volunteering Makes Positive Impact On
People's Health

A new study released today by UnitedHealth Group (NYSE:UNH) and the Optum Institute finds that volunteering is linked to better physical, mental and emotional health.

"These findings show that the benefits of volunteering help strengthen communities and have real, measurable health benefits for the people who volunteer."

Doing Good is Good for You: 2013 Health and Volunteering Study reveals that 76 percent of U.S. adults who volunteer report that volunteering has made them feel physically healthier, and 78 percent report that volunteering lowers their levels of stress, leading to feeling better than adults who do not volunteer. The study also illustrates that employers benefit from employees who volunteer in terms of better employee health and in professional-skills development that employees use in the workplace.

Each of you will forever hold a special place in my heart because of your commitment to these children and making sure that you've moved mountains to meet their best interests. We've celebrated small successes and large ones, too. We've celebrated adoptions and reunifications, too. There have been moments of tears and frustration for some case related, and for others the words "contact log", "tracking form" or "Optima" will forever bring a tear to your eye. But, you fought through it and advocated for what was in the child's best interest.Your tenacity, huge hearts of generosity, and kindness have fueled me each day. Our kids are so very lucky to have advocates like you in their corner. I've thoroughly enjoyed working alongside of you. CASA Volunteer "Best Practices"
For Effective Advocacy

Our volunteers are absolutely amazing and somehow manage to incorporate their CASA work into their already busy lives.  The common thing that we hear from some of our strongest advocates is that it is stressful for them to get all of it done.  We've talked with some of our CASA Volunteers that seem to manage with the least amount of stress about their strategy and have come up with some "Best Practice" tips to guide you in your advocacy:

Evidence of Effectiveness

Since its creation by a family court judge in Seattle, Court Appointed Special Advocates has become one of the most effective programs of its kind. Today there are 949 CASA programs around the country. It is a unique blend of private support, public need and the kind of people power that comes from more than 76,000 volunteers all committed to the rights of every child in the foster care and child welfare system.

Special Thanks To Our Supporters, Volunteers and Donors. We Appreciate You !!

Child Advocacy Services would like to thank the volunteers, community supporters, partners, and donors that contributed their time, money, and talents to help us serve children this year.  We are happy to say that, thanks to you, all of our CASA kids were provided with Christmas gifts this year.  The generosity of your resources and the love you show is paramount in our everyday work at CAS.  2016 was a year like no other!  During the  season of giving, we are reminded that having a loving heart for children is not something that comes around once a year.  The giving spirit of our community is strong year round and for that we are forever grateful!  We hope the holidays were special and filled with as many blessings for you as were bestowed upon us this past year.
Happy 2017 and Thank You.
