GIRL SCOUT MEMBERSHIP YEAR
The new Girl Scout year starts Oct. 1

Back-to-School and Back-to-Troop time is drawing near! Leaders, please make sure that girls and adults remember to register for the upcoming 2014-15 membership year. Girl Scout membership begins on Oct. 1 and runs through Sept. 30 each year. Remember that adult volunteers must submit a new Volunteer Application and Background Check every three years. If you are not sure whether your application is current, contact your regional office. Regular reminders are sent by email and mail to expiring volunteers.

Thank you for helping us ensure members are registered and volunteers have completed all required screening.

Every year, Girl Scouts from across the 80 Kansas counties served by Girl Scouts of Kansas Heartland submit their projects for ribbons at the Kansas State Fair. These projects, which will be on display in the Girl Scout cabin at the fair, showcase a multitude of talents, service and leadership exhibited by Kansas Girl Scouts.

The fair offers numerous categories in which Girl Scouts can participate, including: artwork, jewelry, First Aid kits, Legos, origami, windchimes, camp projects, cupcakes, woodwork, games, comic-strips, computer graphics, knitting, photography, mosaics, and even troop community service projects.

The deadline for project entry forms is Aug. 30. Girl Scouts can submit their entries online or by mail, but all mailed entries must be postmarked by Aug. 15. For more details, click here!
