Wegmans 2011 Day of Caring
Wegman's staff give AWP's shelter a face lift.

In addition to serving up delicious global delights, fresh produce, and more, Wegman's Warrington store is making time to give back to their community. On the menu - a Day of Service!

In August 2011 employees from the Wegman's Warrington store participated in a Day of Service at A Woman's Place (AWP). The only domestic violence shelter in Bucks County for women and children who are victims of domestic violence, AWP's shelter is often in need of some TLC.

"Imagine if your house... with multiple families... all in crisis," mused Associate Director Ifeoma Aduba. "It can get chaotic and experience wear and tear. We count on the generosity of the community to help us give these families a safe and clean place to live. Corporate Days of Service, like the one Wegman's engaged in, are great examples of the wonderful partnership that AWP has with the business sector. We can't wait to have them back."

And back Wegman's will come. This May, several more Wegman's employees will gather again for another Day of Service.

Statistics reported by the Corporation for National and Community Service indicate that people who even donate less than an hour a week can enjoy the health benefits of volunteerism, including lower incidences of heart disease, less depression, and longer life expectancies.
