Kick Off the New Year
by Serving for
MLK Day of Service

There's no better way to start the new year than to honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by serving on the MLK Day holiday, January 15th. The holiday was designated to empower individuals, strengthen communities, bridge barriers, create solutions to social problems, and move us all closer to Dr. King's vision of a "Beloved Community." What kind of projects are available across Virginia? For a complete list of projects, visit MLK.gov. Here's a few volunteer projects to get you started:
  • CARITAS MLK Day Homeless Project (Richmond) - CARITAS AmeriCorps and City of Richmond AmeriCorps members and volunteers will be serving a hot meal to community members experiencing homelessness and collecting/distributing warm weather gear and snacks.
