Spread the Word About New Expanded Health Coverage in Virginia!
   
Recently Governor Ralph Northam signed the 2019/2020 Budget Bill expanding eligibility for health coverage to up to 400,000 new Virginia adults.The new coverage will begin in early January 2019 and  will have a tremendous impact on the families and communities we serve by increasing access to comprehensive health care.  "Cover Virginia" is the Commonwealth's new campaign designed to increase awareness and optimize enrollment.  Spread the word by using "Cover Virginia's" website and various marketing materials, sharing widely with staff, clients and community partners. AmeriCorps Program Training       

All AmeriCorps State program directors and staff will attend Virginia AmeriCorps Program Training, July 17-19, in Richmond at the DoubleTree Hotel. Who should attend? Virginia's AmeriCorps State Program Directors (mandatory), financial managers handling AmeriCorps funding and budgets, site supervisors dealing with member supervision and timesheets and/or data collection and verification, executive directors, and partner site staff. Program staff from other national service programs in Virginia are also invited. 
2018 Mini-Grants Available for 
Day to Serve & 9/11 Day of Service!    

The Virginia Service Foundation is now accepting applications for 2018 Service Project Mini-Grants. Qualifying organizations may be eligible for a cash award to use towards hosting a service project between September 10-October 10, 2018. These projects must be associated with either Day to Serve or 9/11 Day of Service and Remembrance. A limited number of grants are available and applications will be scored based on project scope and community benefits.  The deadline for applications is  August 15, 2018, and  award announcements will be made by  August 31, 2018 .  
Toolkit for Planning
9/11 Day of Service Activities
 
The Office on Volunteerism has updated its toolkit to help your organization plan for the 9/11 Day of Service. Your projects can focus on disaster services, economic opportunity, education, environmental stewardship, health, and (especially) supporting veterans and military families. This toolkit features templates, social media sample posts, and more!
