Election Day is Tuesday March 18th. We are planning a full day of activity and invite you to join us! Register here if you are interested in volunteering on Election Day.

While many of the Statewide and County candidates are running unopposed or with minimal opposition, the contest for Judge and for the Water Reclamation District are highly contested.

For the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District Board - Ten candidates are running for three open seats.
Josina Morita stands out for her commitment to use the office for improving the health and safety of our region's water.   Like Debra Shore, Josina will make the MWRD more environmentally friendly.  She is an Urban Planner with experience working in communities and will bring a much-needed skill set to the board. Josina is also the first Asian American to be slated for a countywide seat by the Cook County Democratic Party.
This is an important race on the ballot in the 48th Ward.  Josina and her running mates Frank Avila and Tim Bradford were endorsed by the 48th Ward Democratic Party and they need our support ...make our community safer and healthier by voting for these candidates for MWRD.

Judicial races are highly competitive this year.

Because there were so many Judicial races this year we decided to form a committee to help us evaluate  each candidate. There are two Appellate Court races that are contested six Countywide Circuit Court races that are contested. In the uncontested  races where there is only one candidate we have not listed the race or candidate.

Our judicial endorsements can be downloaded here and are also listed below with the rest of our slate.

Thank you to former Alderman Mary Ann Smith for   chairing this important committee and to each of the members: Former Senator Art  Berman, Audrey Parsley, Befekadu Retta, Betty Tsamis, Bob Bartell, Bob Remer, Claudia Detrick, Cory Muldoon, Jennifer Walling, Leo Smith, Marty Rogo, Michael Volini, Richard Shavzin and Rochelle Grimbau. Judges play a vital role in our democracy yet sometimes we know very little about them and their qualifications for office.

The Judicial Committee invited every candidate to meet with them, interviewed each candidate who requested our endorsement, reviewed their resumes and analyzed the ratings from the major Bar Associations.

Grace Period Registration:Remember that you can still register to vote until March 15 at the Board of Elections Office at 69 W. Washington.
