Volunteer at Camp Good Sam!
Good Samaritan Community Services has a brand new volunteer program, and we are excited to have the opportunity to incorporate more volunteers during the six weeks of Camp Good Sam! Read below to learn more about this program, our opportunities and meet our Volunteer Coordinator!

Meet our Volunteer Coordinator!
We are SO excited to introduce you to Good Samaritan Community Services' Volunteer Coordinator, Rachel Naron! Rachel worked in Youth Development Services for three years before joining the Advancement Team in August.  Since then, she has been busy building a Volunteer Program designed to provided meaningful experiences for both our volunteers and our clients.
Volunteer Opportunities at Camp Good Sam

Classroom Assistant -The Classroom Assistant helps program staff with daily group activities. Tasks might include gathering program materials, distributing program supplies and assisting with curriculum delivery, as needed.

Field Trip Chaperone- The Field Trip Chaperone helps program staff chaperone field trips. Tasks include accompanying program youth and staff to and from the field trip location and providing supervision of youth as needed on the field trip.

Meal Monitor- The Meal Monitor assists program staff during meal times. Tasks might include providing crowd control and supervision of youth during the meal hour, distributing meals to youth and providing general assistance to youth during their meal time.

Activity Leader- The Activity Leader is responsible for coordinating and leading a project or lesson with youth. In this capacity, the Activity Leader takes control of the group participating in the lesson and program staff serve as assistants to the Activity Leader. An Activity Leader is typically someone who has a high level of knowledge or interest in a particular content area.

Reading Ambassador- The Reading Ambassador conducts reading activities to youth, typically in the form of a read aloud session. Reading Ambassadors engage youth in reading initiatives through interactive dialogue and helps them to see reading as fun.

Mentor- The Mentor commits to a long-term volunteer assignment with a goal of building a positive relationship with their men-tee. Mentors build relationships with youth at the Camp Good Sam location.

Office Helper- The Office Helper provides administrative support in the program office. Tasks might include answering and directing phone calls, taking daily attendance and making copies for staff.

Career Guest Speaker- Career Guest Speakers inspire youth to set career goals by engaging them in robust conversations and interactive activities relating to their career or industry. Through these interactions, Career Guest Speakers expose youth to future opportunities.

Space Decorators- Space Decorators help decorate classrooms for Camp Good Sam.

Family Day-  Family Day volunteers will help set up and run the Family Day event. Jobs might include: serving lunch, setting up tables, and leading the family activities.

In order for Camp Good Sam - Corpus Christi to happen, we need YOUR help!  
We have a goal to raise more than $97,000 by May 1st to help feed, transport and include valuable learning opportunities to our youth, and we can't do it without you!
