Featured Volunteer Opportunity:
Shifts available on Wednesdays from 1:30-3:30pm, Fridays from 1:30-3:30pm, and Saturdays (time tbd)
Help sort and allocate the wide range of in-kind donations DWC receives daily. This is a great opportunity to serve our Ladies with basic needs, special gifts, and program incentives. We need individuals who enjoy organizing, merchandising, and problem solving, as well as dynamic groups ready for team-building as part of their volunteer experience! There are many exciting leadership opportunities in this area of the Center's services. First-time volunteer need to arrive an hour before to receive training. SUMMER & FALL INTERNSHIPS
We are currently recruiting for a variety of internships available in the summer and fall. All internships are unpaid and require a minimum of 15-20 hours per week for 15 weeks. Vocational Education and MADE by DWC Volunteer Training
Become a volunteer in DWC's fast-growing Vocational Education & Social Enterprise Department! Volunteer opportunities include assisting operations of MADE by DWC, the Center's onsite social enterprise cafe and boutique, including aspects of food service and retail sales, pop-up shop events, resale merchandising, and inventory management; assisting and facilitating product development workshops as part of work readiness training for women; and facilitating women's access to resources in DWC's Literacy Center. Kitchen Cleaning Crew
The kitchen is one of the most important rooms in a home and DWC's isn't any different. We build community and serve delicious meals each day in this space! DWC is looking for a small group of volunteers interested in helping to keep our kitchen looking spotless and clean. The group of volunteers will assist the Day Center staff in doing a deep cleaning and scrub once per month. Volunteers should wear comfortable clothing and be prepared to get a little dirty. We are doing a deep cleaning of the DWC kitchen on Wednesday, June 27, and need your help in providing breakfast, lunch, and snack without the use of our kitchen. This is a great opportunity for groups that can prepare bagged meals and drop them off at the Center on the 27th or a up to a few days before. Job Readiness Workshops*
We are looking for volunteers to help the Ladies of DWC reach their workplace goals by leading a job readiness workshop. We have a set schedule of classes and curriculum materials. Topics include general job readiness, Microsoft Office, and basic computer and internet skills. You can teach one class or several. If interested, contact Steven at StevenA@DWCweb.org.

Front Desk Host*
Shifts available during the day Monday through Friday
Assist our busy Day Center staff by welcoming participants and visitors and performing administrative tasks. If you are out-going, friendly, and are able to multi-task well, this is a great opportunity for you! Additional training is provided during your first shift. Shifts are 7am-9am, 10am-1pm, and 1pm-4pm on weekdays
Assist in the kitchen as needed. Tasks may include preparing food, organizing the pantry, cleaning, and administrative support. Shifts available during the day on weekdays and Saturdays
Assist in our social enterprise cafe and retail store, MADE by DWC. This exciting DWC program provides economic opportunity for women while raising funds; 100% of store proceeds directly support the Center. These volunteer positions support different areas of store operations, from barista service and retail sales to resale merchandising and product development--and much more! DWC is expanding our workforce development program, and we are seeking volunteers to help lead various workshops. Current workshops include bookbinding, decoupage, sewing, soap making, candle making, paper making, and product packaging. If interested, contact Steven at StevenA@DWCweb.org.
Learning Center Assistant*
Regular opportunities are available weekdays and weekends or as an on-call alternateThe Learning Center provides computers, books, and job training classes to the Ladies. Your role may include one-on-one support, help with computers, or simply being available as a resource. All shifts are 9am-12pm. If interested, contact Steven at StevenA@DWCweb.org.
Learning Center Tutors for Literacy Program*
Required commitment is twice per week during the day (once on Thursday, other day based on volunteers' schedule)
Our Educational Services team is looking for reading tutors to assist in the development of reading and writing skills for DWC's Literacy Program, offered through a partnership with the Los Angeles Public Library. If interested, contact Steven Alvarez, at StevenA@DWCweb.org.
Phone Coverage & Administrative Assistance*
Shifts available Monday-Friday in the morning
We are looking for volunteers to answer phone calls during business hours. Other administrative tasks, such as data entry and preparing mailings may also be assigned. Volunteers will gain administrative experience and work with staff on day to day operations. If interested, email Steven at StevenA@DWCweb.org.
*All direct service opportunities require that you have attended both a Volunteer Orientation and Volunteer Training and be able to make a regular commitment (varies for each activity).

All-author rock band The Rock Bottom Remainders will perform together for the first time since 2007.
