Call for Artists! Placemaking Opportunity Announced
Artist Info Session will be held in Wilkinsburg on April 4

Together with the Wilkinsburg Community Art & Civic Design Commission, we are participating in the  Neighborhood Allies / Office of Public Art
Placemaking + Temporary Public Art Program. Currently, we are looking for artists to apply for the program.

As part of this opportunity, we will be hosting an artist information session that aims to provide artists with the opportunity to learn about the program and application process. The info session will be held on Monday, April 4, 4 p.m. at the Landmarks Preservation Resource Center (744 Rebecca Ave.).

If you can't make that session, four other info sessions will be taking place in other neighborhoods over the next couple weeks. For details on these sessions and the Placemaking + Temporary Public Art Program, in general, check out Neighborhood Allies Call for Artists. The deadline to apply for this opportunity will be May 2.

Community Cookout Brings Wilkinsburg Together
Local artist, Dee Briggs, hosted the event at her home on March 20

Despite snowflakes and chilly temperatures, the Community Cookout on March 20 was well-attended by Wilkinsburgers from both near and far.  It was held as a statement of community strength and solidarity in the face of the tragic shooting that occurred on March 9.

Cookout attendees feel that the event not only helped to start the process of healing from the recent tragedy, but as conversations and activities from it begin to grow, will also go a long way in preventing future violence in our community.

Wilkinsburg residents haven proven to be resilient in bouncing back from adversity, and now community members are now being called upon to become much more proactive as concerned citizens who are looking to make a positive difference in Wilkinsburg. Many thanks to Dee for pulling this event together and to all who participated!
