Formula E

Lots going on around here! Get the news in our latest newsletter.

Our July schedule with Formula E was just changed by them. Their "community engagement day," when we will give ship tours, is now Saturday 7/15, 12pm-4pm, instead of Friday. That means we don't need staff on Friday (yeah!) and pushes back our Volunteer Appreciation BBQ on Saturday until after those tours.

Volunteer Appreciation Party
Saturday, July 15, 5pm until 10pm
Volunteer Appreciation Party with last hour of Formula E car race & sunset!
RSVP by July 10, requested so we get enough food and drink!

We still need a bunch of volunteers to help with Formula E TankerTours on Saturday, 7/15!

Sunday, 7/16, we need 2 people to be on the boat to greet race spectators who want to come on the deck for some TankerTime AND we need the boat lightly staffed so no spectators come aboard and do things they shouldn't.

Thanks for your help!

DAYS WE NEED STILL NEED VOLUNTEERS THIS SUMMER

TankerTime
TankerTime with "WaterStories of the Wine Dark Sea."
Second Sundays,  May thru Sept:

Sunday, 6/11
Sunday, 7/9
Sunday, 8/13
Sunday, 9/10

We need staff from 4 pm-midnight.

Staff help set up furniture, welcome visitors, monitor the deck to prevent unsafe activity, answer questions about PortSide and the MARY, and tidy up.  We open  to the public at 5pm. Musicians start at 9pm. Event ends at midnight.  This is a really relaxing, low-key job.  Many visitors are not chatty (they are here to be with friends not our staff), so this often amounts to a relaxing hang-out job.

TankerTalk
Thursday 6/15/17   Existential Navigational Math with  Laurent DerobertJust two people needed for this one. Set up starts at 8pm. The event starts at nautical twilight or 9:02pm, and finish time will be around 10:30 with clean up.

TankerTours Formula E
CHANGED DAY! Saturday 7/15/17, as above, part of  Formula E car race weekend.  We are part  of their "community engagement event" invited visitors (mostly youth) eg, we are not open to the thousands of spectators.  We need a few tour guides, and staff for a reception table on deck for race spectators who have questions or want some TankerTime.

Since June 1, come by ferry to the MARY!
The new NYC Ferry has a stop yards from the MARY! It connects Bay Ridge, the Brooklyn Army Terminal, Red Hook and Brooklyn Bridge Park to Wall Street. You can connect to the Rockaway ferry and get to the beach from here. Hope this means that we'll see more of you with you come to help or enjoy TankerTime yourself!
