Our MARY greets their MARY
We are just a month and a half out of the container port, and things are starting to happen!
We have been invited to participate in a small parade of historic ships greeting the cruise ship QUEEN MARY 2 on Tuesday morning, July 14 as part of Cunard's 175th anniversary celebrations.
PortSide is offering the parade experience as a program to people who are not usually able to get on boats, so we are inviting youth groups, seniors, the VFW, along with Community Board 6, and the Red Hook Civic. We have saved some space for volunteers, and whoever helps out this weekend can come for the ride too.
This weekend, we need some help getting ready. There is one cabin to paint, the contents of the tankerman's cabin to move out of the captain's cabin, general tidying up, some sweeping and mopping.
Parade information
The events occur Tuesday, July 14 around sunrise. Yes, we will have coffee! We leave the pier at 5:30am and will be back between 7:30 and 8:00am. You can still make it to work on time!
