Each fall, the Nonprofit Leadership Institute of Greater Cincinnati runs the Excel program to enrich the management capabilities of high-level managers and executive directors of nonprofit agencies in the Greater Cincinnati region. The program matches participants with premier professional development coaches to improve leadership, organizational and strategic planning, as well as branding and marketing. ReSource's own executive director, Christie Brown, is an Excel alum, and endorses the program. Starting in September, the 2017-2018 Excel program features nine sessions - ending with a graduation in mid-May.

FT Volunteer Available for 4 week assignment

ASCENT helps place injured workers in volunteer positions with nonprofits. They have a modified duty program that they administer for their corporate clients. This involves locating volunteer opportunities for an employee who has been injured and cannot return to their current job due to medical restrictions. They are looking for a nonprofit organization that can offer a full-time volunteer opportunity. The position requires sit down work only, and should not involve working directly with children, money or pets. The injured employee will still be paid by their employer while volunteering at the nonprofit organization.

If you have a need for a month of volunteer time, there are 2 individuals who are available to help your organization. One volunteer lives in Batavia and has basic computer skills: contact Erin Cox, 513-351-1222, [email protected]; the other volunteer lives in Mason (skill level unknown), contact Kate Henschen, 513-351-1222, [email protected].

Scripps Howard Intern Announced

ReSource is pleased to announce the addition of a Scripps Howard Foundation Summer Intern, Emmett Kresslein, to our staff.  Emmett is a senior communication studies major at Northern Kentucky University and will be working with ReSource staff on website, newsletter and social media projects. The internship program is a hands-on opportunity for ReSource to gain valuable help in better communicating with our members and supporters while also furthering a communication student's education with real-world experience.  Over 60 nonprofits hire interns through this Scripps Howard program which has funded more than 600 internships since 2002 in the Greater Cincinnati region.
monthlydonorImportance of Monthly Donors

Cultivating monthly donors can boost your fundraising results.  Erica Waasdorp from NonProfitPRO identifies three major reasons why monthly donors are so powerful, even though these donors seem to be so small (at first):
  • they give more money
  • retention rates are much higher than one time donors
  • monthly/recurring giving has become much easier
As for acquiring monthly donors, the author provides two main must-dos: ASK your donors to give monthly, and make it EASY!

Reminder: Change to Pick-up Schedule

As we grow and provide more products to our members, we need our warehouse staff to have block time for processing donations, stocking and moving inventory, and other warehouse work. Therefore we are changing our policy on product pick-ups.

Effective immediately, pickups should be done between 12:30-3:30 only, Monday-Friday. Please remember to bring enough help to load your own vehicle, as we need our staff for warehouse work. If you will need assistance loading, you should contact us in advance for scheduling and loading fees. Shoppers who are taking their products with them will continue to have immediate access to our dock or front entrance for loading.
