Business Connections: All-Star Game in Town!
With the All-Star Game in our back yard, the Major League Baseball (MLB) came out with around 100 volunteers to support children and youth. Volunteer Alexandria was honored to plan and implement this project. Youth and adults created new flowerbeds, planted perennials and trees, painted bathrooms, built picnic benches and tables, installed a new sign, and much more. A huge thank you to Greenstreet Gardens, Hudson Studio and Washington Parks & People for their support to make this happen.
We are the "wedding planner to your wedding" and help your company to be active in the community and meet local needs, all while providing start to finish project management so all your team needs to do is show up! Thank you and Yates Automotive!

Thank you for supporting Volunteer Alexandria by getting gas at Yates Automotive! In July, for each gallon of gas purchased at Yates Automotive, two cents went to us as part of their Give Your Two Cents program! The donated money will be used towards scholarships for our Breaks with Impact program to ensure that all students are able to participate. We appreciate your generosity!

  • Check your disaster supplies
  • Close windows and doors
  • Turn the freezer and refrigerator to the coldest setting so the food could last longer if power goes out;
  • Turn off propane tanks and unplug small appliances

  • Create an evacuation plan with your family members
  • Learn about your community's evacuation response plan, and
  • Evacuate if advised by local authorities.

Betty retires, again!

Recently, front desk volunteer and our illustrious elder, Betty Gentile, retired after four years of dedicated service. The staff, board, fellow office volunteers and RSVP network wish Betty an extraordinary retirement. She will be missed.

"Betty has been a wonderful, fun, and reliable volunteer", says Marion Brunken, "I know we will stay in touch but I'll miss her and her laugh in the office" .
