The   American Muslim March on Washington: Liberty, Justice, Peace  will be held Saturday, July 23 in Washington, DC.  The event is organized by American Islam, Inc. , a national organization representing and working to empower moderate American Muslims, by providing them with religious, educational, social, financial, and advocacy services, and outreaching to the U.S. population, media, and government with the true peaceful message of Islam. Imam Musri  is the President of American Islam, Inc., a national Muslim organization. He serves as the Senior Imam, President and Chairman of the Board of the Islamic Society of Central Florida (ISCF) since 1993. Musri is an advisor on Islam and Muslims to various agencies of the U.S. government. He is a member of the Florida Faith-Based and Community-Based Advisory Council since 2005, served under Governors Jeb Bush, Charlie Christ and Rick Scott. Call for Nominations: Arthur Ross Media Awards 

Academy Logo The American Academy of Diplomacy presents its annual Arthur Ross Media Awards to recognize U.S. journalists whose distinguished foreign affairs reporting and analysis is making a singular contribution to public understanding of the critical role played by diplomacy in the furtherance of America's foreign policy interests. Two awards will be presented, one for reporting and one for commentary. AAD invites World Affairs Councils to submit nominations for the 2016 Arthur Ross Media Awards.

Best Practices Call: Peace Day Challenge 

International Day of Peace  is Sept. 21 

The WACA National Office is once again pleased to host a conference call with the United States Institute of Peace to encourage and help Councils to raise awareness of Peace Day itself, and to access resources that will enable you to work with communities and schools on peace themes in an ongoing way. 

Please join this special call with Ann-Louise Colgan , Director of the Global Peacebuilding Center at the USIP,  and Joyce Davis , President & CEO of the World Affairs Council of Harrisburg, to learn about how you and your Council can get involved in the #PeaceDayChallenge by promoting Peace Day activities in your local communities and schools.
