Challenges and the 2016 Election

Held annually for over two decades, the WACA National Conference engages our Council leaders and members drawn from the business, civic, and education communities with leading policy-makers and experts.

Leading America: Foreign Policy Challenges and the 2016 Election  will provide original and essential insights. Keynote speakers and relevant panel discussion - on the Middle East, great power rivals Russia and China, the global economy, energy, and transnational challenges from cyber to migration - will frame the foreign policy agenda for candidates. Council programs in 2016 will be enriched by the policy conversations and networking that take place here.

September Cover to Cover 
WACA's September Cover to Cover series will feature Ambassador Robert Jordan (bio) on his new book Desert Diplomat: Inside Saudi Arabia Following 9/11 . The call will be held Tuesday, September 8, at 2:00 PM ET . WACA President Bill Clifford will moderate the call.


Desert Diplomat discusses Jordan's political relationships and historic decisions in both Saudi Arabia and Washington between 2001-2003. While providing a candid and thoughtful assessment of the sometimes distressing dysfunction in the conduct of American foreign policy, warfare, and intelligence gathering, Jordan also offers important insights into the many changes occurring in this critical region, particularly Saudi Arabia.

Utah Council for Diplomacy Names New Executive Director - Beth Martial
The Utah Council for Citizen Diplomacy is pleased to announce that Beth Garstka Martial has been named as the new Executive Director for the Utah Council for Citizen Diplomacy. She brings with her over seven years in the humanitarian sector and has served on a number of boards and committees in the community. Currently, Beth serves on the City of Midvale's Community Council, the University of Utah's Bennion Center Advisory Board, and serves on Governor Herbert's Martin Luther King Jr. Human Rights Commission for the state of Utah that promotes diversity, equality and human rights.
