Claire Seaman, 17, a 2015 graduate of Cascade High School in Leavenworth, is the Washington Apple Education Foundation Grand Prize winner in the 20
th Annual Year of the Apple Art Contest presented by Dow AgroSciences. As the grand prize winner, Claire will receive a $1000 cash prize for her award winning artwork titled "Orchards of Home."
In addition to the cash prize, Claire's artwork will be published on the 2016 Dow AgroSciences wall calendar.
The $500 second place prize was awarded to Esteban Garibay, 17, Sunnyside High School, and the third place $250 award recipient is Iris Parada, 17, Pasco High School.

The Year of the Apple selection committee chose the talented award winners amongst many entries submitted by high school students from central Washington. The Year of the Apple Art Contest is open to all high school students residing in Chelan, Douglas, Okanogan, Grant, Benton, Franklin, Kittitas, Yakima and Walla Walla counties.

st on the WAEF event website. The deadline for students to submit entries is June 1, 2016.
2016 Year of the Apple poster calendars will be available December 7-9, 2015 at the Dow AgroSciences booth at the Washington State Tree Fruit Association Annual Meeting in Yakima. To receive a copy via the mail, please contact the WAEF office at (509) 663-7713.
